Many people consider The Good Shop Murder a ‘guilty pleasure’ – it’s so unintentionally funny that it’s become a beloved show to make fun of. The Gogglebox cast particularly enjoyed it, and a quote from Pete and Sophie calling it a ‘cracking comedy… considering it wasn’t meant to be’ was even used in the show’s opening credits for a long time.

One Reddit user admitted that despite finding the first season of ‘Man’ terrible, they and their wife are eagerly anticipating the second season. Another user described the show as ‘awful’ but confessed to binge-watching the entire season on BritBox in a single day, calling it ‘horrifically entertaining’.

One IMDb viewer noted the show isn’t meant to be taken too seriously, and that it presents some unbelievable situations. However, they also enjoyed Ward’s musical performances and the beautiful scenery filmed in the Mediterranean.

Lots of reviews pointed out that the show was quite the fromage, calling it things like “fantastic cheesy fun” and “cheap and cheerful”.

People have likened it to the comforting mystery shows on Hallmark, but with storylines so unbelievable they make those shows seem realistic in comparison.
