Catherine O’Hara makes her The Last Of Us debut as new action-packed trailer for season two teases her role
As a dedicated fan of the apocalyptic genre, I am beyond excited about the upcoming season of “The Last of Us.” Having grown up with classics like “Mad Max” and “The Road,” I can’t help but feel that this series is a perfect blend of the post-apocalyptic world I love and the emotional depth I crave.
In a fresh sneak peek for Season 2 of The Last of Us, actress Catherine O’Hara is set to join the series for the first time.
In the second season, set five years following the events of the first, both Pedro Pascal, aged 49, and Bella Ramsey, now 21, reprise their characters as Joel Miller and Ellie Williams respectively.
The trailer begins with a shot of Catherine, 70, setting a timer before she settles down with a mug across from Joel (Pedro Pascal).
It seems that there isn’t any specific information available regarding Catherine’s character, however, it appears that she may be portraying a therapist who is collaborating with Joel in her role.
The duo appear to be having a session as Catherine asks him, ‘Do you want to start or what?’
In a stoic manner, Joel maintains a serious expression as he gazes at her without uttering a word. However, she persists, and her speech forms the rest of the trailer as various previews of upcoming events are shown.
The scene transitions to reveal Ellie strolling towards a fortified settlement, accompanied by a heartwarming moment of her strumming a guitar alongside Joel.
In Catherine’s words, “You can’t mend something unless you’ve got the courage to speak up about it,” is illustrated by a sudden image of a blood-stained road sign.
As a guitar-obsessed admirer, I find myself strumming away on my six-string, lost in the rhythm, when my captivating crush, the radiant Dina, takes a seat to watch.
‘Say the thing you’re afraid to say,’ Catherine adds.
‘Say it out loud, no matter what it is, no matter how bad,’ she continues.
‘What did you do?’ she asks.
Viewers catch glimpses of the dramatic events unfolding in season two as Catherine speaks, among these previews is a large-scale assault by the infected.
In summary, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the narrative for season two indicates that after five years of tranquility post-season one events, Joel and Ellie’s shared history comes back to haunt them, leading them into disagreements and confrontations with each other, as well as a world that turns out to be more perilous and unstable than the one they originally departed from.
The game “The Last of Us” was initially introduced on PlayStation 3 in 2013, and it was developed by Neil Druckmann. This game shares its title with the source material.
The story unfolds in a world that’s been left shattered two decades following the demise of our contemporary society, focusing on Joel, portrayed by Pascal, a survivor tasked with escorting a 14-year-old girl named Ellie beyond the restricted quarantine area.
A virus has infected humanity and caused a zombie outbreak.
Initially, it seemed like just a simple task, but it evolved into an arduous expedition as their only means of living became reliant on each other during their cross-country trek.
On September 26th, which is also known as “The Last of Us Day,” the trailer for season two was unveiled. This particular date holds significance within the video game as it marks the start of the virus outbreak.
Back in February, it was officially announced that O’Hara had been cast for the show, although the specific character he will portray remains undisclosed at this time by HBO.
Following the appearance of the Best in Show actress on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, a curious fan inquired if the whispers about her potential involvement in the series were validated. Only then did the official response arrive.
‘How do you know these things?’ O’Hara said, before confirming: ‘It’s in discussion – yeah.’
In a joking manner, O’Hara asked: “Are you kidding me? Are you part of this production, and now you’re planning to leave and simply give it all up?
Additionally, she disclosed a familial tie to the program. Specifically, she mentioned that her son is involved as a set decorator for the series, a fact she divulged to Cohen.
Ohara is particularly recognized for her appearances in movies directed by Christopher Guest, the Home Alone series, Beetlejuice, and portraying Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek.
Season two of The Last Us will premiere on Max next year.
