Peacock’s Friday the 13th Prequel Doesn’t Focus on Jason & That’s a Problem

The new Peacock series, Crystal Lake, will be a prequel to the Friday the 13th movies, mainly telling the story of Pamela Voorhees. Because of this focus on her backstory, the show won’t feature much of Jason Voorhees, the famous killer from the franchise. While understandable considering the timeline, this approach unfortunately continues a disappointing pattern seen in other horror series.

I was surprised to read in The Hollywood Reporter that the new live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series is going straight to Paramount+, and won’t be in theaters. It’s a bit disappointing, but it also means we’ll have all things Avatar in one place! Apparently, Paramount+ is going to be the exclusive home for everything coming out of Avatar Studios, including the upcoming Avatar: Seven Havens series – which I’m really excited about, as it promises to build on the world we already love.

The Final Five were essentially the creators of the humanoid Cylons seen in Battlestar Galactica, including models like Number Six and Boomer. At first, they acted as parental figures to these human-like machines. However, one of the Five, Cavil, went rogue. He gave the Cylons human personalities and spread them throughout the Twelve Colonies. He also erased all memory of the Five from the other Cylons’ minds and took over the entire operation.

Disney Becomes The First Studio In 6 Years To Reach A Major Box Office Milestone

As of today, Avatar: Fire and Ash has brought in $450 million at the box office, helping Disney reach a major milestone: over $6 billion in worldwide earnings for 2025. This is the first time Disney has achieved this level of success since 2019, before the pandemic, and also marks a return to the strong performance they saw from 2016 to 2018. So far this year, Disney has earned $2.3 billion in the U.S. and $3.65 billion internationally.
