Ian McShane, known for his roles in John Wick and American Gods, starred as the main character in the original series. The show was based on a series of novels by John Grant, who also wrote under the name Jonathan Gash.

Few people anticipated the release of Disciples: Liberation in 2021. Bringing back the classic strategy series seemed like a long shot, and unfortunately, the game proved to be slow-paced and uninspiring for both critics and players, validating those doubts. So, the announcement of a direct sequel was met with understandable skepticism. It seemed risky to continue with a spin-off that hadn’t been well-received.

Live Hard, Die Hard is a fast-paced strategy game set in the distant future. Humanity is struggling to survive after a surprise alien attack, and you take command of a skilled special forces team. You’ll direct soldiers who fight and move independently as you try to turn the tide in this counter-invasion war.

I’m so excited to see Dónal Finn playing James Moriarty! He’s taking on a role that Andrew Scott absolutely killed in the Sherlock series with Benedict Cumberbatch, so he’s got some big shoes to fill, but I think he’ll be fantastic as Holmes’s future enemy.

Federation Stories called the series “a riotous, pacey treat,” and the BBC says it’s full of clever surprises. (You can read our review here.)
