Cat Stevens has been forced to cancel his latest tour due to delays in securing his visa.
The 77-year-old singer had planned to bring his Cat On The Road To Findout Book Tour to North America in October, but he has now informed his fans that the tour will not be taking place.
The musician, now known as Yusuf Islam after converting to Islam, used Instagram to share that he was ‘really upset’ with his followers.
He shared that, unfortunately, his Cat on the Road to Findout Book Tour in the U.S. probably won’t happen as planned in October. He wrote: ‘Sadly, my Cat on the Road to Findout Book Tour in the U.S. looks like it won’t go ahead as scheduled in October.’
We waited for visa approvals for months, and tried to be patient. Unfortunately, we’ve now reached a point where it’s impossible to get the production logistics in place on time for my show.
Oh my gosh, I’m absolutely devastated! It’s not just about me, you know? I’m so worried for all of you, my amazing fans, who’ve already bought tickets and made plans to travel to see me perform. It breaks my heart that this is happening, especially after all the effort you’ve put in. I feel terrible letting you down!

There’s still a possibility that viewers in North America will be able to watch the tour, assuming the necessary visa approvals are granted.
Those dates are a bit far off due to existing travel plans, but we’re hoping fans will be able to join the Peace Train route at some point soon.
His tour was scheduled to start in Philadelphia on October 2nd, with more dates to follow. He previously toured North America with six concerts back in 2014.
Cat embraced Islam in 1977 and subsequently dedicated twenty years to creating music adhering to very strict religious guidelines.
The singer began performing non-religious music again in 2006. His latest album, King Of The Land, came out in 2023.
Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, embraced Islam after a profoundly moving experience in 1976. He had a near-death experience – almost drowning while swimming off the coast of Malibu, California – which led to his conversion.
He gazed at the sky and exclaimed: ‘Oh God, if You rescue me, I promise to serve You!’ Immediately after, a wave surged upwards, carrying him nearer to the shore.
The singer took it as a sign and felt that ‘God was right there’.

Shortly after that, his brother David gifted him a copy of the Qur’an, which eventually inspired him to convert to Islam and change his name to Yusuf.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: ‘I was like, ‘This is actually it’.
All the themes I’d been exploring in my music were coming together in a single, powerful idea. It completely overshadowed everything else I’d written.
