Casualty star Naomi Chaya Wakszlak has revealed she’s welcomed her first child.
The 27-year-old actress has played the role of Indie Jankowski, a cheerful young paramedic, in the BBC drama since December 2024.
She shared a post with the caption: ‘May 4th, 2026. Things have changed, and honestly, it might be for the best. I can’t wait to share everything with you, so pay attention!’
Naomi’s friends and colleagues from Casualty quickly responded with warm congratulations in the comments.
Oh my gosh, you guys, Sarah Seggari – our Rida Amaan! – just posted the sweetest thing! She was basically screaming with happiness and said she’s SO incredibly proud! I’m seriously living for this moment, it’s the best news ever, just like she said! I’m so happy for her and Rida!
Kirsty Mitchell, who also goes by Faith Cadogan, sent a message saying, ‘Congratulations! Sending you all lots of love and hugs x’.
Milo Clarke, who plays Indie’s paramedic colleague Teddy Gowan, wrote: ‘Gorgeous gorgeous’.
Since Indie joined team 3006, she’s faced a lot of challenges, but her boss, Jan Jennings (Di Botcher), often sees that she’s a good person who generally tries to make good choices.
Indie has recently started dating Cam Mickelthwaite, who is portrayed by Barney Walsh, the son of Bradley Walsh.
The medical drama Casualty, a popular Saturday night show since 1986, is currently airing a short series called Learning Curve, with just two episodes left to go.
Earlier this year, The Traitors fans spotted a former contestant pop up in a Casualty episode.
Maddy Smedley, known for being in the original series of the BBC’s murder mystery show, recently appeared in the first episode of the medical drama in 2026.
She portrayed a patient who sustained severe burns after falling asleep in the sun.
Maddy announced on X (formerly Twitter) that viewers can watch Bethany Chimes on tonight’s episode of Casualty at 8:45 PM on BBC One, or stream it now on iPlayer. The character is described as being obsessed with tanning due to feelings of loneliness.
It’s a really sad story, and I hope it helps people understand the dangers of melanoma and sun exposure. So glad to be back working on Casualty! #casualty
Viewers watching this week’s episode quickly pointed out the resemblance between a character and Maddy from “The Traitors,” with one person commenting on X (formerly Twitter): “Maddy from #TheTraitors on #Casualty!”
Another added: ‘Good to see Maddy in #casualty from series 1 #TraitorsUK #traitors @the_traitors_’,
Someone commented that it was like watching the show right now, and they asked their friend if it was Maddy from ‘The Traitors.’ They added that it was great to see her.
Maddy quickly became a standout player in the first series because she was one of the few who accurately identified Wilf Webster as a Traitor.
Unfortunately, she was removed from the show just before she could prove her idea was correct.
She’s become well-known through roles in television dramas like Hollyoaks (as Faye Fuller), Big Boys (as Sally), and a guest appearance as Dilys Shaughnessy in Call the Midwife.
