Castle Star Seamus Dever Guest Stars in Intense Tracker Episode
If you’re a fan of the TV show “Castle”, don’t miss the latest season of CBS’s drama series “Tracker”. While Justin Hartley’s series is known for its impressive guest stars, in Season 2, Episode 7 titled “Man’s Best Friend”, you’ll find a familiar face – Seamus Dever from “Castle”! His performance in this episode promises to be one of the season’s standouts. In “Tracker”, Dever takes on the role of a dangerous man of war who works alongside an infallible rewardist, adding depth and intrigue to the series.
In Season 2 episode “Tracker,” Dever takes on the role of Max Miller. A former soldier, Max finds himself as Colter’s new case when he swipes a lost dog from a professional hunter’s vehicle. With his kind heart, it doesn’t take long for Colter to propose a two-for-one deal for his services. Recovering the stolen pet and aiding a distressed vet in what may prove to be one of the most perilous missions yet is just another day’s assignment for this semi-bounty hunter.
Seamus Dever’s Short-Lived Role in ‘Tracker’
For enthusiasts of “Castle,” Dever portrays Detective Kevin Ryan, a key component of the show’s most compelling non-romantic duo with his fellow detective and friend, Javier Esposito (performed by Jon Huertas). However, in “Tracker,” Dever deviates from his law-abiding roles as Max Miller, a rebellious and somewhat disloyal character. A former soldier whose poor choices have caught up with him, Max is desperate, dangerous, and decisive. These qualities make his character even more chilling since they reveal his readiness to cause chaos driven by fear. This troubled character infuses the narrative with tension and serves as an intriguing contrast to Colter. Contrastingly, the character of Colter Shaw exudes calmness and reassurance, while Max serves as an unpredictable burst of determination that disrupts Colter’s routine and adds excitement to each episode.
Max’s character in “Tracker” is quite different from the more conventional and comedic persona that Nathan Fillion portrayed as Richard Castle on TV. The most fitting parallel might be to the brief stint of Detective Kevin Ryan going undercover in the Irish mob, which was a short-lived storyline in “Castle.” However, if this storyline had been expanded upon, Max’s character could have resembled Ryan’s transition into a criminal world. Fillion’s portrayal of Max is menacing yet compassionate, and he delivers the role with confidence, much like his previous performances.
Justin Hartley Has Also Appeared in ‘Castle’
On another occasion, Hartley and Dever have shared screen time before. In fact, Hartley had a role in an episode of Castle, interestingly enough, that episode was centered around dogs as well. In Season 4, Episode 13, titled “An Embarrassment of Bitches”, Hartley portrayed a reality star who was the main suspect in the killing of a dog trainer. Coincidentally, in this episode, the lead actor Nathan Fillion took care of a canine companion temporarily, much like Colter does later in the storyline where he finds himself caring for a dog.
Following “Castle”, Seamus Dever has made guest appearances on various television shows, such as “True Lies”, “Legion”, and the DC comics-based “Titans”. In 2019, Dever reunited with his Castle co-star Nathan Fillion in an episode of Fillion’s action series “The Rookie”. Interestingly, Dever’s onscreen partner from Castle, Jon Huertas, also features in the episode titled “The Bet”. Since 2020, Dever has been drawn to the “NCIS” universe. He has appeared in three of its series: “NCIS: Los Angeles”, “NCIS: Hawai’i”, and currently holds a recurring role in the original series, “NCIS”.
In the captivating world of Tracker, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing some exceptional talents grace our screens. Jensen Ackles, famously known for Supernatural, portrayed Colter’s brother with a depth that left me awestruck. Gil Birmingham, recognized from other esteemed projects, brought a profound friendship to life for Colter’s father. Sofia Pernas, who charmed viewers on The Brave, proved her mettle as another tracker, while Amanda Wong, hailing from When Calls the Heart, added a unique charm to our series.
Jennifer Morrison, whose enchanting performance in Once Upon a Time left an indelible mark, not only captivated us as a guest star in Season 1 but also showcased her directing prowess by helming an episode in the second season. Lastly, Castle’s Jon Huertas demonstrated his versatility by directing several episodes of our series. The talent assembled on Tracker is truly awe-inspiring!
In Season 2, Episode 7 of the show “Tracker,” titled “Man’s Best Friend,” you’ll find Seamus Dever. Additionally, he appears in a recurring role as Deputy Director Gabriel LaRoche on CBS’ “NCIS.” Right now, the second season of “Tracker” is being broadcasted every Sunday on CBS and can be streamed on Paramount+.
