Cassiopeia’s boots are made for walking!

League of Legends is getting a big update in 2026, and one change involves the champion Cassiopeia. For years – since 2016, in fact – Cassiopeia hasn’t been able to purchase boots in the game. This is because her abilities already provide her with increasing movement speed as she levels up, making boots unnecessary.

Starting in 2026, Cassiopeia will finally be able to buy boots, something she couldn’t do before. A new version of her passive ability was tested on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) on December 8th. The upcoming patch notes detail the change: Cassiopeia’s passive now increases the effectiveness of all Movement Speed bonuses by 6% to 40%, depending on her level.

This update gives her access to new quests launching in 2026. Mid lane players who finish their quest will get a free upgrade to tier-3 boots and a faster recall—lasting four seconds—for the rest of the game. It’s still too early to say if these changes will improve her overall strength, though.

When will the update be available?

The changes to Cassiopeia’s abilities, including restoring her boots, will be available in the League of Legends update releasing on January 8, 2026. Players will need to wait until after the new year to experience the updated passive.
