Cassie quietly plotting a triumphant comeback years after Diddy stalled her career
As a woman who has witnessed the struggles and triumphs of various artists throughout my career, I find Cassie’s story deeply saddening yet inspiring. Her journey through the highs and lows of the music industry, coupled with her personal battles, is a testament to resilience and strength.
Cassie is quietly making a comeback in her music industry, having faced a pause of over two decades due to her former boyfriend and accused abuser, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
54-year-old rapper Diddy (formerly known as Combs), is currently imprisoned due to charges leveled against him for multiple offenses including sex trafficking and racketeering. These charges were made after his arrest on September 16, 2021. Currently, he is expected to stay in prison until his trial scheduled for May 2025.
In November of last year, the singer Cassie, aged 38 and known for her songs with Me & U, reportedly played a significant part in the decline of Sean “Diddy” Combs. This was due to her allegations of repeated physical abuse and rape against him in a shocking $30 million lawsuit.
This week, DailyMail.com discovered a troubling collection of images from 2013 that seem to depict her with potential bruises on her forehead and a swollen eye. Remarkably, these injuries appeared three years prior to the incident when Diddy allegedly assaulted her in a hotel lobby.
Currently, she’s focusing on a return to the music scene. Lately, this mother of two has registered a fresh track and is contemplating the release of songs that have been stored away in her collection of unpublished work.
A source has exclusively shared with DailyMail.com that Cassie is contemplating returning to the music scene, as Diddy is currently in prison and some top-level executives who used to be loyal to him have stepped down.
Initially, she never thought her career would come to a halt as it did following the release of her debut album. However, she holds numerous unpublished tracks that she wishes to share when the circumstances and industry conditions align appropriately.
They added: ‘Her collaborators have been informed of this, so the royalty splits have been agreed.’
Back in 2010, I first heard the magic of Cassie Ventura’s tune, “Into It,” under the Universal Music label. Fast forward to this very year, and the legend herself, Cassie, has given it a fresh spin! What an exhilarating revelation for a devoted fan like me!
More recently in August, she registered a new song, Midnight Hour, with the record label.
R&B singer Cassie had been in a long-term on-off relationship with Combs for 11 years.
They secretly started dating in 2007, two years after first meeting when Cassie was just 19.
Their romance became public knowledge in 2012. They split in 2018.
2006 marked a year prior to the start of their relationship, when Cassie joined Diddy’s record label, Bad Boy Records, to introduce her first single “Me & U” to the world.
That same year, she went on to release her self-titled, and first and only, album.
During the time span of 2008 to 2009, Cassie put out a total of three songs as singles. These songs included “Official Girl” with Lil Wayne, “Must Be Love” featuring Combs, and “Let’s Get Crazy” alongside Akon.
Four years passed since her last release, and in the year 2013, she introduced her first mixtape, titled RockaByeBaby. Later, in the year 2019, she decided to part ways with Combs’ Bad Boy Records.
It wasn’t missed that Cassie’s erratic approach to music distribution drew attention, as Vibe deputy editor Clover Hope pointed out that her mysteriousness might be damaging her reputation.
From my perspective as a devoted fan, I can’t help but echo the sentiments shared by The Daily Beast regarding this enigmatic artist: ‘Folks are left scratching their heads about her, for they remain largely unaware of her backstory.’
On November 16, 2023, Cassie brought forth legal action alleging ‘sexual assault’ and continuous physical harm spanning approximately ten years against Combs. This backstory subtly sheds light on why Cassie has been less active in the music scene.
According to the documentation, she asserted that during the final moments of their relationship, he forcibly entered her house and sexually assaulted her.
The legal complaint elaborately outlined accusations that he had supposedly administered drugs, threatened her, and coerced her into engaging in sexual acts with multiple male escorts during the course of their relationship, all under his watchful eye.
Combs settled the case just one day later.
Back in March, a disturbing video was released that captured Diddy (Combs) brutally assaulting Cassie at the Century City InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles, which occurred in the year 2016.
A man in just a towel is observed sprinting after someone down the hallway, then he catches up to her, seizing the back of her head forcefully and causing her to fall hard onto the floor.
As an utterly smitten admirer, I can’t help but express my heartfelt gratitude for the waves of affection and encouragement that have been pouring in from my kin, comrades, strangers, and future acquaintances. The sheer magnitude of love has carved a sanctuary where my younger spirit can find solace and security now. Yet, this is merely the dawning of a new chapter, and I eagerly anticipate the journey ahead.
‘Dealing with Domestic Violence was a challenging experience that transformed me into someone I hadn’t expected. Despite the struggles, I have managed to improve myself, though I am constantly working towards healing from my past traumas.’
When Diddy (Combs) was arrested last month, a source close to Cassie, who wed fitness instructor Alex Fine in 2019, stated that the event was far from a cause for joy or merriment for her.
The source shared with DailyMail.com that although she feels relieved because the situation has intensified, she isn’t expressing joy or excitement over it.
She regrets that others weren’t believed back in the 90s, as it would have protected her from what happened.
According to a source, Cassie is stepping back for a while to prioritize her mental well-being, as the specifics of the case are proving distressing.
Additionally, it was reported that she was offended by the baby oil jokes and memes circulating online, following Federal agents’ seizure of approximately 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricants from Diddy’s homes in Miami and Los Angeles, which were allegedly used for his ‘Freak Offs.’ events.
