Casey Affleck’s girlfriend Caylee Cowan calls for stars like Jennifer Lopez to give up fur for PETA

Actress Caylee Cowan has revealed how Jennifer Lopez can take stand against animal fur. 

27-year-old actress has taken up the role as PETA’s newest ambassador, promoting the use of vegan leather substitutes through their latest campaign (with a billboard ad to boot). In an exclusive chat with the Daily Mail, she shared her insights on how high-profile celebrities can champion animal welfare.

Caylee shared that she has personally encountered Jennifer Lopez, and she is incredibly kind and considerate, even going out of her way to be generous. Caylee is dating Casey Affleck, who was once married to Jennifer’s sister.

Nevertheless, Caylee thinks that Jennifer, widely recognized with a style that PETA has frequently criticized, could utilize her influence to persuade fashion enthusiasts towards adopting a fur-free clothing style.

If Jen decided to adopt a faux fur lifestyle by refraining from wearing any garment derived from real animal skin or fur, this choice could influence others significantly, as Caylee commented, despite the fact that JLo and Ben, both aged 53, aren’t vegan.

Jennifer and Ben’s revitalized relationship, which began over a decade since their initial attempt, officially disintegrated earlier this year.

Caylee had mentioned that she and Casey strengthen their bond by helping each other with everyday household responsibilities like chores, which she believes contributes to the thriving nature of their relationship.

Since 2021, the couple has been in a relationship. Caylee pointed out that maybe their shared preference for relaxed activities is what’s helped them endure longer than the more extravagant pair known as Bennifer, who resided in a massive mansion during their marriage.

She expressed that she adores them both, but during a period when she was involved with Casey, they had rekindled their relationship, got married, and eventually divorced. This is what she shared with the Daily Mail.

Throughout my time with Casey, I strongly believe that maintaining a stable, balanced relationship is crucial. In essence, this is what it’s all about.

In January 2021, Casey encountered Caylee for the first time; they announced their relationship on Instagram in November of the same year. On the other hand, the connection between Bennifer was rekindled in April 2021.

In the past, both Jennifer and her former partner Ben encountered criticism from PETA. This was due to an incident in 2002 when Ben bought Jennifer a coat made from chinchilla fur, as reported by Vogue.

In response to PETA’s criticism, I was shocked to learn about the harsh and inhumane treatment of animals. Rest assured, I wholeheartedly condemn such practices and promise never to support or engage in any actions that perpetuate this cruelty in the future.

In a similar vein, although PETA often criticizes celebrities for wearing fur, Caylee, who previously didn’t know about the chinchilla dispute, believes it’s essential for a higher cause.

Originally, their intentions stem from a positive source. They aim for transformation, an objective I wholeheartedly endorse. And let me tell you something, they are quite revolutionary in their approach. However, if they aren’t so bold, they find it hard to capture attention.

Jennifer has repeatedly drawn criticism from PETA, such as for wearing fur costumes in Hustlers and a feathered Versace cape during the Super Bowl, which the designer subsequently claimed were ethically sourced feathers.

Although she typically opts for real fur attire, she donned artificial fur ensembles instead. In fact, a faux fur coat she wore to the iHeart Radio Awards in 2022 drew particular admiration from the event’s organizers.

In their praise for her style, PETA acknowledged her bond with Ben and expressed hope for a “fur-free future” for the duo. (The sentence has been made simpler and more conversational.)

In a more casual and approachable manner: ‘Growing older, gaining wisdom, and becoming even kinder… Back in 2002, Ben bought Jennifer a chinchilla coat, prompting PETA to write him a letter, leading him to promise, “Never again.” Fast forward two decades, the duo has reunited, and no animals have suffered for JLo’s fashion choices because she’s chosen faux fur instead, showing concern for animal welfare. Here’s to wishing them a joyful future without real fur.’

As a vegan from her teenage years, Caylee expresses strong emotions towards animal well-being, and it’s the same with her partner as well.

‘Casey’s vegan. He’s been vegan since I’ve known him,’ she said. 

Describing him as incredibly compassionate towards animals, Caylee mentions that her partner has taken exceptional measures to look after struggling four-legged creatures – extending as far as saving a one-legged dog he discovered beside a railway track.

She shared that he once saved a three-legged dog from beside a railroad track, which he then kept as his pet.

She mentioned that the dog would bark and nip, but instead of using technical terms, she implied that he handled the situation.

Casey also spent an entire day tending to a somewhat ferocious pooch he found alongside the road.  

Apologies for getting emotional, but she shared a story about a poor dog she encountered by the roadside, tied up and barking. Apparently, it had been abandoned in the sunlight throughout the day. When she heard about this, she called an Uber to go help him.

He spent the entire day seeking help from an animal service provider to collect the dog, providing for its needs, and taking great care to avoid being bitten by a dog on the verge of attacking.

‘But he’s like that all the time. He just has a really big heart,’ she said. 

The strong commitment towards animal rights led them to depart from the hotel they were staying in, upon finding out that it was adorned with taxidermy.

As a committed admirer, I found myself in Spokane, Washington, amidst a bustling film set. The lodging we initially chose, Casey and I, unfortunately needed relocation due to its peculiar decor – walls adorned with real stuffed animal heads, and floors draped with actual furs.

Additionally, there seems to be a certain energy about real fur that gives me an unsettling vibe. Frankly, it even makes me feel queasy. However, I’m not entirely sure why this sensation arises within me, but it feels as though there’s some sort of energy associated with it that I can intuitively sense.

Casey says balancing their busy lifestyles with their relationship is ‘pretty easy.’   

‘We have a mutual understanding because we’re like both actors,’ she said.

In the near future, actress Caylee, known for roles in shows like Frank and Penelope, The Instigators (set to release in 2024 with her boyfriend and Matt Damon), will also star in an upcoming movie titled Hollywood Grit.

Additionally, she’s making an eye-catching statement in Los Angeles, as she graces a fresh billboard endorsing PETA’s vegan leather campaign there.

In an imaginative video produced for the campaign, Caylee explains the process of transforming fruits and plants into vegan-friendly ‘leather’.

In Caylee’s opinion, the idea for the video stemmed from the enchanting notion of transforming food into fashionable statements.

She explained to the Daily Mail that it seems almost enchanting, similar to a magic trick, but in reality, it’s not as complex as it appears to turn an apple into a bag.

She stated that if this could become a trend in fashion, it would significantly benefit both the environment and cattle, as well as improve farming conditions.
