Carrie Underwood shocked her fans as she debuted a dramatic hair transformation.

The 42-year-old country singer posted a selfie on Instagram Friday, and her fans couldn’t help but notice her new hairstyle, with many commenting that she looked completely different.

I was really touched to be supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital recently, but honestly, the reaction to my new hair color was a bit surprising! A lot of people commented that I looked completely different – ‘unrecognizable,’ some even said! It’s funny how a simple hair change can have such an impact, but knowing it all went towards a great cause definitely made it worthwhile.

After thirty years, she decided to go back to her natural hair color over the summer. This time, however, she chose a shade even darker than her original color, completely removing her blonde highlights.

Carrie Underwood, known for her long platinum blonde hair, wore a T-shirt supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The shirt read, ‘Music gives to St. Jude kids.’

She shared a selfie on Instagram, wearing a shirt promoting the fundraiser and smiling, and asked her 13.4 million followers to donate. As a thank you, donors would receive a T-shirt, with the proceeds going to help children fighting cancer.

She encouraged people to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by becoming a ‘Partner in Hope’ and purchasing a limited-edition shirt at musicgives.org, highlighting the fundraiser as the holidays approach. She wants to bring hope to every child battling cancer.

Her silky, mousy brunette hair was parted slightly off-center and styled in soft beach waves.

With rosy cheeks and a pink glossy lip, she flashed a bright smile in the self-portrait. 

Many of her fans were surprised by her new hairstyle, saying she looked completely different with brown hair instead of her usual light blonde curls.

A fan commented that while the singer is still beautiful, her new hairstyle – a different color and a fresh cut – has drastically changed her appearance.

Another Instagram user added: ‘Is this Carrie? Doesn’t look like her.’ 

Several other fans agreed that she looked different as they asked, ‘Who is this a picture of?’ 

‘Who is this?!’ Another fan wrote as they commented on how her new hair changed her look. 

Many people agreed she didn’t resemble Carrie, particularly because of her brown hair.

Honestly, seeing everyone come to her defense over the hair thing made my day! Someone actually commented ‘I love your hair dark’ and I just wanted to scream YESSS! It’s perfect, and it’s amazing that other people get it too. I’m so glad they’re showing her some love!

She recently shared that after thirty years, she decided to stop dyeing her hair and return to her natural color, abandoning her signature blonde look back in August.

She shared photos of her new hair and explained that she hadn’t seen her natural hair color in about twelve years, but she decided it was time for a change.

She mentioned wanting to experiment with different hair colors, explaining that she’s been blonde her whole life. However, she was hesitant to make a drastic change, worried people might misinterpret it as a sign she was becoming more serious or somber.

Ugh, I really wish I’d started experimenting with my hair ages ago! If I had, doing something different now wouldn’t be such a huge deal, you know? Everyone’s acting so surprised, but if I’d just gradually changed things up, it would feel totally natural by now. I should’ve started sooner!
