Carrie Bickmore shares incredible throwback images of her wild 2000s hairdos on The Project in the wake of show’s axing

Carrie Bickmore recently wrote an emotional message about The Project, following its cancellation by Network 10 on Monday, after being part of it for 16 years.

On Thursday, the former radio host (age 44), who parted ways with the program in 2022 following a 12-year tenure, shared an Instagram post reminiscing about her memorable moments during her stint on the show.

Additionally, Carrie added a humorous retrospective video montage as a tribute to The Project’s crew, both old and new – even sneaking in a brief moment from the show’s debut back in July 2009.

Instead of choosing flattering moments, the lively emcee opted to highlight some awkward blunders, embarrassing show parts, and even some less-than-stellar hairstyles (her own included) for her tribute.

In addition, she added a heartfelt old video snippet from a special tribute section for her deceased husband, Greg Lange, who passed away from brain cancer at the age of 35 in 2010.

Additionally, she posted a promotional photo featuring herself with her fellow hosts, Charlie Pickering and Dave Hughes, from the earlier stages of the show.

Over the past few days, Carrie has found herself reminiscing about the past since learning that The Project will be closing after 16 years, as she shared in a heartfelt narrative along with her post.

She continued, ‘It was a huge part of my life for 14 years and I made life long friends there.

I hold a great deal of admiration for every host who has graced the chair throughout the years. Particularly, those who are currently serving.

Each day, I’m humbly amazed by the incredible ingenuity and hard work that goes into transforming our daily news program. Behind the scenes, there are countless unsung heroes who tirelessly put in their efforts day after day, and it is these unseen faces who truly deserve our recognition and appreciation.

We shared laughter, tears, amazing tales, and stood up for those who couldn’t stand up on their own.

Regardless of whether you adore us or despise us, I’m grateful that we could be a part of your daily routine and join you in your living rooms. Thank you for welcoming us into your homes each evening.

‘Remember the show fondly. It takes guts to try something different.

‘(I have thousands more memories, this is literally what I found quickly in my camera roll).’

It comes after Carrie spoke out about the shows cancellation earlier this week.

On Instagram, Carrie expressed her sadness over the cancellation of the show, having won a Gold Logie during her tenure there.

The media figure reshared a statement attributed to anchor Waleed Aly, saying: “The Project revolutionized the way news can be presented.

Carrie acknowledged the statement on her Stories, saying: ‘Indeed it is. Terribly sad news today.’

She added: ‘Irrespective of your personal views on the program, it significantly transformed the manner of news broadcasting, and I am immensely proud of what the program and all those who contributed to its creation accomplished.’

‘You’ve never met a more passionate, engaged bunch.’

Carrie announced her departure from The Project after 12 years on air in October 2022.

Carrie joined The Project when it first launched in July 2009, then known as The 7PM Project.
