Let me tell you, life is what you make it! I’ve been keeping things fun and casual with a few lovely people, and honestly, it’s down to just three ‘special friends’ at the moment. It just goes to show, things change, and sometimes you have to laugh about it – times are hard, aren’t they? I’m all about enjoying life and good company, and that’s what I’m doing!
Carol Vorderman, 65, has always been honest about her relationships, preferring to date multiple people rather than commit to one long-term partner, which she says is her ‘worst nightmare’.
Either Carol or her partners could have ended the relationships at any time. Now, after ending things with two of them, she hasn’t found new partners and is currently continuing relationships with the remaining three.
She playfully shared with Alan Carr on his Life’s A Beach podcast that she’s narrowed her options down to three, adding with a touch of humor that ‘times are hard’.
Although she generally prefers keeping things casual, she doesn’t think short flings while on vacation are a good idea.
She explained that she makes a clear distinction between taking a relaxing vacation and experiencing a difficult or upsetting event, stating she avoids the latter at all costs.
She said of her current arrangements: ‘It’s very different. They’re three like quite long term.’
Just last month Carol said she has no desire to settle down.
I’ve been a fan of this broadcaster for years, and I always wondered about her personal life. It’s well-known that she’s been divorced twice, and she and journalist Des Kelly separated way back in 2007. She hasn’t been with anyone publicly since then, and I admire her for keeping that part of her life private.
But she has no plans any time soon to be finding one man and settling down.
In a January interview with The Mirror, Carol shared that she isn’t looking for a serious relationship at the moment. She jokingly suggested she might consider it much later in life – perhaps when she’s 82 and with someone 45 years old!
Carol criticized the societal pressure on women, explaining that many people believe a woman needs a male partner to travel, live life to the fullest, or simply have a good time. She strongly emphasized that this isn’t true.
Supporting women isn’t about being against men; it’s about empowering women to pursue their goals and achieve their full potential.
Last year, Carol revealed she was in relationships with five different people, clarifying that she prefers committed connections rather than casual encounters.
I’ve always admired Carol’s honesty about dating. She’s said she’s not the type for casual hookups, but she enjoys keeping things light and seeing a few different guys – she calls them her ‘special friends,’ which I think is really sweet and refreshing!
In a 2023 interview with You magazine, the celebrity explained that things were going smoothly because she wasn’t looking for a romantic relationship and doesn’t get jealous.
Carol stated that all of her partners are currently unattached, and she’s okay with them pursuing other relationships if they choose to.
She said with a laugh, ‘I’m still seeing those people, and things are going really well.’
She has a close group of five friends. She’s known one for eleven years and another for seven. Her children, Katie, who is 31, and Cameron, 25, are familiar with most of them.
Carol enjoys the freedom and independence this arrangement provides. She believes it’s perfectly fine if her partners desire more closeness, as long as everyone is open and honest about their needs and they’re all enjoying themselves.
Everyone involved is currently unattached, and she believes in not getting in the way of potential relationships. If anyone were to meet someone else, that would be perfectly acceptable.
She explained that she doesn’t get jealous and genuinely celebrates her friends’ happiness, no matter who they’re with.
My main goal isn’t finding romance—it’s simply to be happy. I’m fascinated by people and enjoy life in general.

Carol has been married twice. She was married to Christopher Mather from 1985 to 1986, and then to Patrick King from 1990 to 2000. Patrick King is the father of her two children.
