Hold On singer Carnie Wilson has suffered a health scare.
Wilson Phillips singer, 57, shared on Instagram this Wednesday that she was recently hospitalized.
Wilson experienced health issues following surgery on September 15th to remove a lap-band. These issues were discovered during the procedure itself.
The singer, who had weight-loss surgery in 1999 and again in 2012, recently had another procedure to address some health concerns. However, the surgery caused a frightening complication: her blood pressure spiked and her legs became severely swollen.
Doctors found she had a stomach ulcer that needed prompt treatment. In a video posted to Instagram, she explained, ‘The pain was really bad, and it makes sense considering how stressed I’ve been this year.’
She was deeply stressed following the death of her father, Brian Wilson, the famous musician from The Beach Boys, who passed away on June 11, 2025.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to have overcome this,” she said, expressing gratitude to her doctors and fans who offered prayers for her recovery. “It’s given me a fresh outlook on my health,” she added, sharing that she’s now on the path to getting better.
As a lifestyle expert, I often talk about gut health, and one condition I frequently encounter is ulcerative colitis, or UC. Basically, it’s a long-term inflammation of the colon, that part of your digestive system that processes waste. Now, we don’t have one single answer for *why* it happens, but current thinking is it’s likely a mix of factors – your genes, things in your environment, and how your immune system functions all seem to play a role.
She announced on Wednesday that she’s home from the hospital and recovering well, after being admitted for the second time this month. Wilson explained that a new medication has been particularly helpful. In a video posted to Instagram, she said she feels like she’s finally turning a corner in her recovery from lap band surgery.
In 1989, Carnie teamed up with her sister Wendy and friend Chynna Phillips to form the popular music group Wilson Phillips.
Rebel Wilson has publicly discussed her struggles with weight. Before having gastric bypass surgery in 1999, she weighed over 300 pounds.
After regaining much of the weight she had lost, she underwent lapband surgery in 2012.

In 2017, she revealed she needed another surgery to fix and remove her previously failed breast implants, which had since broken.
Okay, so she *finally* updated us on Instagram in April, and honestly, I’m blown away! She said she’s lost a whole 40 pounds just by changing what she eats! Forty pounds! And she says she feels incredible, better than ever. I’m so happy and proud of her, seriously! It’s amazing to see her thriving.
Wilson said she’s lost 40 pounds and is feeling great. She wants to pick up her exercise routine to continue seeing progress, but she’s already very proud of how far she’s come and is excited to keep going.
I achieved this simply by changing my diet – eliminating gluten and sugar, avoiding butter, and reducing my fat intake.
I’ve been enjoying high-fat snacks like cheese and nuts recently. Without them, and without corn tortillas, I don’t think I could maintain my current diet.
I’ve completely changed how I eat to enjoy the foods I want, but in a way that’s actually sustainable. It feels amazing!

The Wilson Philips singer appeared on CBS’ The Talk where she discussed her ‘scary’ surgery.
Despite her fear, she knew she had to continue. “I’m nervous about what I’m about to tell you,” she started, briefly mentioning donuts as something she enjoys when she’s feeling stressed.
She explained that she needs surgery because the breast implants she received after losing weight 16 years ago have ruptured. She originally had a breast lift and augmentation at that time.
She considered whether or not to share the news, but ultimately felt she had to, as this happens to many women.
I need to get these removed and then go through surgery to fix things, which is honestly frightening. I hesitated to talk about it, but I feel it’s important to share what’s happening.
The singer admitted she likely would make a different choice if she were facing the same situation now. She explained that she’s changed and her priorities are different. While acknowledging it’s a difficult situation, she expressed confidence in her ability to cope and move forward.
The singer shared that her mom is supporting her during this difficult time. Her mom told her, “Carnie, this is just a small challenge, a temporary setback, and it will pass quickly.”
