Carlos Santana Hospitalized: Health Emergency Cancels Shows, Fans Concerned
This week, Carlos Santana must cancel another performance due to a serious health incident that required hospitalization.
The renowned guitarist, aged 77, was scheduled to play at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio on Tuesday, as part of his Oneness Tour 2025. However, he had to cancel due to a health issue related to dehydration.
The renowned musician has had to cancel another performance scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday in Sugar Land, Texas, as he’s still in the process of recuperation.
The person acting on Santana’s behalf informed TMZ that he was released from the hospital and currently taking rest at a hotel. However, due to extra precaution, the concert scheduled for Wednesday night in Sugar Land, Texas has been called off.
Previously, Michael Vrionis, his manager, stated to DailyMail.com that during the preparations for tonight’s performance at the Majestic Theatre, Mr. Santana encountered an incident that was identified as dehydration.
For the well-being of Mr. Santana, it was wise to delay the show as a precautionary measure.

Santana’s manager emphasized that the skilled guitarist-turned-pop sensation is currently in good health and eagerly anticipates returning to San Antonio shortly, as well as resuming his ongoing U.S. Tour.
In July 2022, the musician experienced a comparable incident onstage at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan. It was subsequently disclosed that this happened because of heat-related issues and dehydration.
Santana’s manager added that the San Antonio show would be rescheduled soon.
The musician’s medical issues were first reported on by TMZ.
As a devoted fan, I sadly share that the news reports indicate that our beloved rock and jazz artist was transported by ambulance from the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio to a nearby hospital.
Santana’s team is urging anyone with tickets to hold on to them for the upcoming rescheduled date.
Back in December 2021, the musician had to call off numerous shows in Las Vegas because he started experiencing chest discomfort.
In a later tweeted video, he shared that due to an issue in his chest, he requested his wife to drive him to the hospital.
Santana shared that he needed to temporarily step away to recover following his surgery for an undisclosed health issue.
He promised to take a break to regain his usual form, aiming to deliver 150% effort for the fans.

‘I wouldn’t show up unless I could do that,’ he said at the time.
The Mexico-born guitarist broke out in the late 1960s and early ’70s with his band Santana.
Before their first album was even released, the group gained immense popularity following their performance at the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Festival. This was further amplified when director Michael Wadleigh included an 11-minute segment of the group’s Soul Sacrifice performance in his successful Woodstock documentary.
Following their critically acclaimed first self-titled album, the band put out Abraxas in 1970, containing enduring hits like Oye Como Va and Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen. These tracks remain mainstays in Santana’s solo performances even today.
Initially known for a rock sound influenced by Latin music, Santana later delved into jazz fusion during the 1970s.
In that span of time, he made recordings alongside numerous jazz legends such as Alice Coltrane (John Coltrane’s wife), Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, John McLaughlin from Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Jack DeJohnette and Dave Holland who were part of Miles Davis’ band. Many others also collaborated with him during this period.
In the 80s, Santana experimented with both his initial Latin rock sound and jazz influences. However, he reclaimed dominance on the music charts in 1999 with the release of Supernatural, an album that showcased numerous young collaborators.
Or:
In the 1980s, Santana combined his early Latin rock style with his love for jazz. But in 1999, he regained control over the music charts with the album Supernatural, which featured a variety of younger artists as guests.
As the main track, “Smooth”, the song showcased the vocal talents of Rob Thomas from Matchbox Twenty. It then dominated the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for a remarkable 12 weeks.

Eventually, the widespread play of the song sparked mockery and accusations that it was played too much. However, this popularity was ultimately what propelled Supernatural to reach the top spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
The constant playing of the song resulted in jokes about its overexposure and claims that it had been played too much. Nevertheless, this widespread appeal contributed to Supernatural reaching number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d say Santana consistently revisited their successful blueprint by releasing numerous albums that boasted an impressive roster of renowned guest artists and collaborators.
however, in 2023, the artist faced backlash from certain fans after delivering an unexpected critique against transgender individuals during a live performance in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
In his speech, he mentioned that he shared a close bond similar to him and comedian Dave Chappelle, referencing the humorist known for making jokes against transgender individuals in several of his latest comedy shows.
Previously in that same year, Santana disclosed during an interview that a man had subjected him to sexual abuse nearly every day from when he was 10 to 12 years old. However, he expressed that he has since forgiven the unidentified individual.
