Carl Weathers to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the vast and fantastical worlds of Star Wars, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of loss with the passing of Carl Weathers. Growing up, I remember watching Rocky and Predator with awe, but it was Greef Karga in The Mandalorian that truly captured my heart.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the legendary Carl Weathers, who sadly left us in February, will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on August 29, according to Variety. What an incredible tribute!
Weathers’ career spans several decades, culminating in joining the Star Wars galaxy as Greef Karga, in The Mandalorian. Karga became a series regular and appeared in every season of the series. Along with sharing his acting chops, Weathers directed episodes on the show, including “Chapter 12: The Siege” and “Chapter 20: The Foundling”. Beyond his on-screen contributions to The Mandalorian, Carl Weathers showed his dedication to the Star Wars community by actively engaging with fans on social media and in person at events like Star Wars Celebration and various conventions. His genuine enthusiasm for the franchise has always shone through, making him adored among fans.
It’s exclusive news from Variety: The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will bestow a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame posthumously to Carl Weathers on August 29. This announcement comes via @Hwdwalkoffame and @Stargirl_stuff.

Weathers’ prolific career included big-screen blockbusters such as the Rocky franchise and Predator. After the news of his passing, he was mourned by costars Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenneger, and the entire Star Wars community. He received praise for being a brilliant actor, a talented director, and an inspiring human being who took it upon himself to make everyone on set feel welcome. His Mando co-stars, including Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, and Emily Swallow, all paid touching tributes to him, and his absence will be felt when The Mandalorian makes its transition to the big screen with The Mandalorian and Grogu.
1) On social media, Weather expressed his enthusiasm for the movie, similar to how the Hollywood Walk of Fame honors significant figures. It’s only fitting that the film also acknowledges Greef Karga, who emerged as a trusted ally for Din Djarin and Grogu. From leading the Bounty Hunter’s Guild to becoming the High Magistrate of Nevarro, Greef has left big footsteps in the Mandalorian era, making it challenging for Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni to fill his shoes in future stories set within this timeframe.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor Weathers’ achievements on August 29.
