“Captivating” British courtroom drama boasting a star-studded cast gets new UK streaming home

In the coming days, a popular British courtroom series with many recognized actors will find a fresh UK streaming platform as its new residence.

The ITV show titled “The Jury” initially premiered back in 2002 and resurfaced again in 2011, becoming the pioneer to shoot inside the historic Old Bailey courthouse for any series.

These two shows share a common setting, but their narratives are otherwise independent. What sets them apart is their emphasis on the jury members rather than the usual focus on the defendant and the prosecution.

Hey fellow gamers! Exciting news – the new show we’ve all been waiting for is landing on Netflix starting from next Tuesday, specifically on the 22nd of July. But here’s a pro tip: If you can’t stand the anticipation, there’s a sneaky way to get an early peek at it!

Right now, you can stream both seasons on ITVX. The fundamental plan is accessible for free, featuring advertisements. If you prefer an ad-free experience, the Premium tier costs £5.99 per month or £59.99 annually.

The initial season showcases a diverse array of talented actors such as Gerard Butler (from How to Train Your Dragon and Plane), Nicholas Farrell (The Iron Lady), Helen McCrory (Peaky Blinders), Nina Sosanya (Screw), Derek Jacobi (Last Tango in Halifax), Nitin Ganatra (EastEnders), Connor McIntyre (Coronation Street), Tim Healy (Benidorm), and Mark Strong (Kingsman).

In this season, you’ll find me rubbing shoulders with Sarah Alexander from Pennyworth, Roger Allam from The Thick of It, Anne Reid from Years and Years, Meera Syal from The Rings of Power, Rory McCann from Game of Thrones, and the ever-charming Julie Walters, who graced the Paddington films. Quite an illustrious gaming crew, don’t you think?

Many reviews from fans on IMDB were written prior to Gerard Butler’s major breakthrough in the 2007 film 300, even though he had already worked on several projects at that time.

As a devoted admirer, I must admit that Butler’s portrayal of the recovering alcoholic Johnnie, though not yet a household name at the time, truly left an impact. The reviews from back then were filled with praise for his performance, with fans describing him as “exceptionally convincing”, “captivating”, and even going so far as to call him a “standout”. His intensity was such that at times it felt like I wasn’t breathing along with the character.

The Jury is available now on ITVX and will be added to Netflix on Tuesday, 22 July.

Our latest print edition from Digital Spy, titled “Oasis – Live in ’25”, is now available! You can purchase it from your local newsstands or online for only £8.99.
