Captain America: Brave New World writer says critics “got it wrong”
Co-writer Rob Edwards, who worked on “Captain America: Brave New World,” has addressed the movie’s less favorable reviews penned by film critics.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s sub-series, the fourth movie featuring Anthony Mackie prominently as the main character, currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 48% positive reviews by critics when this text was composed.

In reply, Edwards, one of the film’s contributing writers, admitted to The Direct that he had a somewhat mixed expectation about the reaction.
As I shared my thoughts with the press during my promotional tour for ‘The King of Kings’ at WonderCon, I mentioned that experiences reminiscent of those I’ve encountered in various other projects have cropped up.
It struck me as unusual, since some of my critical friends replied, “I believe you overlooked it. I feel like you misunderstood it.
The audience response to the film was more positive, with a 79% average score from fans.
According to Edwards, when the feedback from the audience was received, many people he encountered responded with something like, “I not only loved it, but I brought my family to see it again the following week. I’ve seen it multiple times. It’s an incredibly enjoyable movie, and I can’t understand what all the fuss is about.
“I mean, that’s really what you want as opposed to the other thing.”
The movie faced numerous setbacks such as delays, script revisions, and additional filming, which included a significant transformation in Giancarlo Esposito’s character and the unexpected addition of a controversial end credits sequence. Upon its release, it managed reasonable earnings at the box office but failed to create a major impact on cinema audiences.
In some movie theaters, Captain America: Brave New World is currently showing, with a release on Disney+ anticipated within the next month.
