In theaters now, the film features Anthony Mackie making his standalone debut within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sam Wilson, the latest character to assume the role of Captain America.
In the movie, Sebastian Stan briefly appears as Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier. His on-screen persona is depicted as running for a position in Congress.
As a gamer, I once controlled a character who had been manipulated by the Nazis, turning him into a cold-blooded killer responsible for the deaths of hundreds, including Tony Stark’s beloved parents. But then, I helped my character make things right and atone for his past actions.
On Reddit, fans have expressed a mix of puzzlement and joy about Bucky’s recent professional decision, with some admitting they couldn’t comprehend the appearance.
One fan expressed uncertainty about grasping the appearance of Bucky, stating, “I’m not quite following why Bucky was included.” They further explained their difficulty in accepting the concept of Bucky holding a government post.
As an ardent admirer, I pondered aloud, “Could the masses and authorities truly place their faith in a figure who had spent half a century as a Hydra assassin, eliminating highly influential American figures such as Howard Stark?
Though I understand he underwent brainwashing, it seems he can still be manipulated once more. Personally, I don’t think it’s the right direction for Marvel to take such an intriguing character down this path…
One viewer expressed confusion about why Bucky was given a cameo when they’ve long hoped for more integration of other heroes, particularly in large-scale conflicts. They found it puzzling that less central characters like Bucky and Betty were included, but not Bruce.
