As a long-time fan of Capcom’s groundbreaking gaming universe, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia during The Game Awards last Thursday. With the announcement of not one, but two revived classics – Okami and Onimusha, my heart skipped a beat in anticipation.
During The Game Awards last week, Capcom unveiled a long-awaited sequel for Okami and the first Onimusha game in years. In their words, they are working to revive older intellectual properties that haven’t seen a new release in some time.
As a devoted gamer, it’s only natural that whispers of a new Dino Crisis game ignite excitement within me. After all, it’s been quite some time since the controversial Dino Crisis 3 graced our screens back on the original Xbox in 2003. Here’s to hoping Capcom decides to revisit this classic series and deliver a fresh, thrilling adventure!
According to a statement from Capcom, they are striving to boost their corporate worth by utilizing their extensive collection of content. This involves reviving older intellectual properties, such as the ones mentioned previously, with the aim of consistently creating efficient and high-quality titles that never stop flowing.
Among Capcom’s notable intellectual properties that haven’t seen much action in years are titles like Rival Schools, Final Fight, Bionic Commando, and Mega Man – we can only hope for some new developments on these fronts soon, and Dino Crisis certainly deserves attention too. In the meantime, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is set to launch in 2026, while Okami 2 doesn’t have a specified release date yet.
