Camp Bestival launches ‘slomo wellbeing’ to connect families with yoga, breath work and meditation after a boogie to Sir Tom Jones, of course

It’s common practice for Sir Tom Jones to take the stage at a music festival and entertain crowds numbering around 30,000 people.

However, the organizers of Camp Bestival emphasize that, in addition to a performance by a worldwide superstar, this year’s festival offers families a distinctive chance – to enhance their overall health and wellness.

For the very first time, Camp Bestival is introducing a wellness festival aimed at delivering “happiness, peace, and unity” to attendees, not just from the United Kingdom but worldwide as well.

Rob Da Bank, a former Radio 1 DJ, along with his wife Josie, who jointly founded Bestival, think this event will offer an ideal remedy for families dealing with the daily stresses of living in today’s fast-paced digital world.

Rob, aged 52, shared with TopMob that wellbeing is centered around inclusiveness and ease of access, and they genuinely encourage families to give it a try.

We’re equally enthusiastic about promoting wellness, and we dream that future generations can enjoy a fun-filled introduction to it from an early age.

Our primary goal is to ensure wellbeing is within everyone’s reach, moving away from the exclusive, somewhat elitist wellness culture.

‘Everyone is struggling with mental health and anxiety and stress and should have access to that.’

Over the years, Camp Bestival – initially started by a couple back in 2008 at Lulworth Castle, Dorset – has evolved into the UK’s leading family-focused music festival, spanning from July 31 to August 3.

Back when he was still relatively unknown, a young Ed Sheeran used to perform at that venue before becoming famous – he would play in the woods for about 30 people as a rising star. Over the years, well-known acts like Chuck Berry, Brian Wilson, Mark Ronson, Simple Minds, and Primal Scream have headlined there.

Sugababes and 90’s dance act Basement Jaxx are topping the bill this year along with Sir Tom, 85.

This summer, as indicated by a recent poll, approximately 80% of British residents are choosing domestic vacations, or staycations. This presents an opportunity for music enthusiasts to experience a unique blend of festival and holiday, affectionately referred to as a ‘festi-holiday.’ Instead of venturing far, they can pitch their tents amidst the lush greenery right at home.

For the very first time, they’ll have an opportunity to fully enjoy the brand-new Slomo Wellbeing Festival, as it includes a relaxed area on the premises.

At this event, you’ll find activities that feel like mini-festivals, where individuals across different age groups can engage in daily workshops featuring breathing exercises, meditation, and yoga. These activities frequently combine traditional methods with modern adaptations.

Additionally, you’ll find options for rejuvenating retreats, opulent hot tubs, saunas, and invigorating ice-cold plunge pools. Massages and various treatments are also available.

Or simply:
You can enjoy reset retreats, hot tub soaks, sauna sessions, chilly plunge pool dips, plus massages and treatments during your stay here.

A diverse group of facilitators will conduct sessions spanning the entire day, ranging from uplifting sunrise rituals to meditation experiences under the night sky.

Drawing upon the lively Nordic tradition of contrast therapy, our itinerary encompasses relaxed DJ performances, culinary presentations, energetic morning dances fueled by cocoa, therapeutic sound experiences, guided mantra sessions, and interactive family release events.

During our complimentary walk-in wellness sessions, you might find additional specialized services or unique experiences that require a fee and should be reserved ahead of time.

In her words, at age 52, Josie expressed that stepping into the new space is like entering a breathtakingly beautiful and supportive new realm. The place is vibrant and fashionable to behold.

Our wellness program has a delightful, entertaining aspect. When designing Camp Bestival with Robby, we strive to provide unique experiences for families, offering activities they wouldn’t normally encounter in their daily routines.

It’s an immense privilege for us to contribute to the wellbeing of children and their families during these challenging times. Parents are under a lot of stress right now, so if we can encourage more individuals to breathe, exercise, and enjoy themselves together through our activities, that would be truly wonderful.

‘We cannot wait to throw open the doors.’

Many well-known performers will share the stage with our main acts, such as Lightning Seeds, The Zutons, DJ Annie Mac, and drum and bass sensation Goldie.

Various entertainment options are available for families at no cost, such as theater shows, workshops on circus arts, science experiments, sports events, and diverse live performances like DJ sets, family-friendly dance parties, stand-up comedy, and evening variety shows.

Popular choices like Mr. Tumble, Mister Maker, CBeebies Bedtime Stories, Horrible Histories, and Dick and Dom will make a comeback as well.
