Cameron Diaz’s comeback Netflix movie delayed to 2025

As a longtime fan of Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx, it’s always a delight to see them back together on the big screen. I remember their electrifying chemistry in “Charlie’s Angels” and “Annie,” and I can hardly wait to witness their reunion in “Back In Action.”

The release of Cameron Diaz’s Netflix comeback film Back In Action has been delayed.

Moreover, featuring Jamie Foxx, this action-comedy is his initial project since the 2014 release of “Annie,” a role he took on after the “Charlie’s Angels” series.

In the movie, Foxx and Diaz play ex-CIA operatives who decide to settle down and have a family, only to find themselves drawn back into the world of spying when their pasts are uncovered.

Originally, Netflix had planned to release the movie on November 15, 2024, as announced at their Upfront event in May. However, according to Tudum, the release date has been changed and it is now scheduled for January 17 of the upcoming year.

Cameron Diaz's comeback Netflix movie delayed to 2025

A reason for the almost two-month delay has not been shared.

The film “Back In Action” is helmed by director Seth Gordon, known for his past works such as “Horrible Bosses”, “Four Christmases”, and the 2017 remake of “Baywatch”.

Joining Cameron, Jamie, and the rest are Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts, and Rylan Jackson, making up the complete cast.

The film’s production faced disruption when Jamie Foxx, the lead actor in They Clone Tyrone, had to be rushed to the hospital unexpectedly due to a severe health issue.

The film “Back In Action” faced allegations of tension on the production set, however, Cameron Diaz has openly vouched for Foxx in public.

Speaking about her comeback to acting with the movie’s announcement, Diaz expressed that she felt “unusual” and referred to her initial role as akin to “recalling muscle memory.”

On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she mentioned: “For such a long time, it became somewhat of a routine for me. I sort of naturally slipped back into it. However, it seems a tad peculiar this time around.”

“The last film I worked on was ‘Annie’, co-starring Jamie, and now, my return project is this movie also featuring him. He’s simply fantastic – effortless, skilled, dedicated, and gifted. It’s truly a pleasure collaborating with him again.”

Back In Action will be released on Netflix on January 17, 2025.
