Calling Nordic Noir fans! A near-perfect “riveting” Danish crime thriller is now streaming for free
In the UK, you can now stream the critically-acclaimed Scandinavian crime thriller known as “The Guilty“, which has been praised as “compelling”, at no cost.
2018’s Danish movie centers around Jakob Cedergren as Asger Holm, a police officer who is temporarily moved to the emergency hotline desk due to a work-related event. In this fresh role, Asger receives a panicked call from a woman who has been kidnapped, triggering a thrilling rescue operation.
Inside the walls of a call center, Gustav Möller’s “The Guilty” can now be watched for free in the UK, as Channel 4 has added the thriller to their streaming platform. You have until the 17th of August to catch the action, as the film will be taken down on that date.

According to The Seattle Times, Möller skillfully extracts all the tension from the concept and then masterfully creates moments that leave you breathless again. On the other hand, Variety referred to it as a high-concept piece that expertly tightens the muscles with its tense atmosphere.
IndieWire found the film equally captivating, labeling it as a “gripping” and “efficient” drama that maintains its pace without letting up. The New York Times, on the other hand, described it as a tale that unravels in real-time, instantly engaging audiences with its twists and turns that can be both intriguing and terrifying at times.
This work is a cleverly unique take on its genre, delivered with an energetic flair – a raw gem that’s hard to let go, according to Rolling Stone. The Los Angeles Times described it as both gripping and flawless.
Three years after receiving widespread acclaim, the movie was re-created, under the same name, by Nic Pizzolatto and Antoine Fuqua. This time, Jake Gyllenhaal took on the main character’s role. Despite being deemed less impressive than the original, the remake garnered mostly positive criticisms.
The Guilty is streaming now on Channel 4.
