Calling It’s a Sin fans: Russell T Davies shares exciting update on next “gripping” Channel 4 drama

Russell T Davies has provided an update on his upcoming Channel 4 series, Tip Toe.

The five-part series, unveiled in February, centers around Leo and Clive, residents living side by side in Manchester. As global tensions rise, these neighbors find themselves at odds with one another.

Through an Instagram post, Davis, renowned for his work on ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘It’s a Sin’, has shared that he has completed all initial scriptwriting for the upcoming drama series, and the series is set to premiere in the year 2026.

Done! 5 episodes, Channel 4 (2026), produced by Quay Street Productions, Nicolas Shindler, Phil Collinson, PJuk, Andy Pryor Casting and Channel 4. Here’s a snapshot of the final script for episode five.

“Katy Manning, who worked with Davies on ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures,’ replied enthusiastically and inquisitively, writing ‘Fantastic!’ Meanwhile, Lucy-Jo Hudson, a previous cast member of both ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Hollyoaks,’ expressed excitement with three ‘Yes’s.’

The storyline of Tip Toe introduces Leo, who owns a bar on Canal Street, and Clive, an electrician with two adolescent boys. However, despite their lives seemingly becoming stable, the environment they live in starts to become increasingly anxious.

In a suburban setting that seems peaceful at first glance, words turn into instruments of conflict, views grow increasingly extreme, and once friendly neighbors transform into bitter adversaries in a gripping tale. This suspenseful drama questions our notions of safety and security.

Exploring the “most harmful influences affecting the LGBTQ+ community currently,” the work titled Tip Toe will delve into the threat of prejudice through a compelling narrative that showcases Davies’s signature blend of sharp wit and hilarious humor.

Davies expressed his delight when he referred to Channel 4 as his first home and Canal Street as his second, stating this during the project’s unveiling. He felt compelled to create this show because the world seems increasingly bizarre, challenging, and ominous. In essence, he believes that the struggle is imminent.

Even though Tip Toe doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, Davies is planning to debut a fresh five-part sci-fi series this year. The War Between the Land and the Sea is expected to join the growing collection of works known as the Whoniverse.

Tip Toe’s launch date is still undisclosed. Currently, Doctor Who can be watched on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ globally. In the UK, you can access classic episodes of Doctor Who on BBC iPlayer.
