Desperate Housewives is getting a new spin-off with a big-name star attached.
It’s been announced that work has started on a fresh take, or reinterpretation, of the beloved 2000s comedy-drama known as Wisteria Lane.
According to the report, the show is currently being developed by both Disney’s Onyx Collective and 20th Television, and Kerry Washington’s production company, Simpson Street, is also involved in the project.
However, it is not sure whether Washington will actually appear in the show itself.
In this updated version, the storyline remains similar to the initial one, featuring five neighbors who have a mutual dislike for one another, residing on the same street. However, they’ve upped the ante by attempting to portray their lives and homes as flawless, not just in reality but also online.
Absolutely, each one of them harbors many hidden truths, making it likely that these truths will not only come out but might spread quickly on social platforms instead of merely being shared during a neighborhood barbecue gathering.
Currently, the original show creator, Marc Cherry, is not working on this particular project. However, it seems there might be an opportunity for him to join at some point in the future.
It’s unclear if any of the original cast members will make an appearance, but both Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria have expressed their readiness to participate if given the chance.
Wisteria Lane is being penned by Natalie Chaidez, who has served as the head writer for The Flight Attendant and contributed scripts to Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Heroes, among other notable shows.
