Call the Midwife’s Helen George teases tragedy for Trixie in season 14

Actress Helen George, known for her role in “Call the Midwife,” hinted that hardships may lie ahead for her on-screen character Trixie, as the series progresses into its 14th season.

On the BBC show’s Instagram, it was disclosed by Helen that Trixie would be given a role as a woman carrying a baby who is grappling with mental health concerns.

In this series, there is a strong emphasis placed on mental health, not only for individuals but also within the community and the mothers residing at Nonnatus House, as she pointed out.

Trixie plays a remarkable role in a heart-wrenching, poignant tale about a young mother dealing with mental health struggles during pregnancy. It’s a difficult period, but Trixie offers significant support to her.

In this upcoming episode set in April 1970, Trixie finds herself looking after Arlene, a young, unmarried woman who’s due to give birth soon and is under the supervision of local midwives.

The increasing cases of gonorrhoea within the district raise concerns when Zeta, a young Cypriot woman expecting a child, receives her diagnosis.

She’s completely overwhelmed and confused by her diagnosis, while her husband, Mehmet, vehemently denies any infidelity. Simultaneously, Cyril and Rosalind are helping out together at a homeless shelter.

In Season 14, things appear to change significantly for Trixie, as her spouse Matthew won’t be there beside her after the dramatic incidents in Season 13.

In the holiday special, Trixie made her way back home from New York, where she had relocated with Matthew to launch his fresh endeavor.

At Nonnatus, she swiftly resumed her routine, which involved assisting in childbirths and aiding new parents, all while passionately discussing her devotion to her career during an AA gathering.

During our chat with Sister Julienne, she shared that Matthew’s ventures are thriving, yet she gently urged me to linger just a bit longer and follow my heart’s desires.

It’s uncertain if Matthew will ultimately return with her to England, but it seems likely that Trixie will be moving between Nonnatus and America for the near future.

Call the Midwife airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
