Call the Midwife teases “important” moment for one character in new season

As a devoted fan of Call the Midwife, I can hardly contain my excitement with each new update about season 14! The recent sneak peek into production has only fueled my anticipation, especially since it hints at an emotionally charged and significant scene for one of my favorite characters, Zephryn Taitte.

The television series “Call the Midwife” has given a peek into its filming process for season 14, hinting at a significant event involving a particular character.

The show’s Instagram update hinted at the approaching end of filming, however, there are still tasks like editing, additional dialogues recording, and other post-production work left to transform the raw footage into completed episodes.

Since there seems to be much discussion about conclusions, we wanted to provide you with some intriguing tech tidbit from this backstage photo featuring Zephryn Taitte portraying Cyril. Here, he finishes a close-up shot for a crucial S14 scene.

Can you see those film clapperboards in the photo? They appear to be flipped over. This isn’t just a careless oversight by the camera team, but rather a purposeful method to distinguish it from regular takes. In the film industry, this specific positioning is often referred to as an ‘end slate’ or ‘end board’.

As a gamer, I often find myself in situations where I don’t want to pause the game and restart from scratch. Maybe I want to tackle that tough level again without taking a break, or I don’t want to lose the immersion and tension built up within the game world.

During such instances, the team signals the ending of a video clip for the editor by flipping the clapperboard over at the conclusion of each recording session.

In simpler terms, our actors aren’t new to final scenes and intense emotions… and it’s safe to say that this last episode was packed with a lot of emotional finales.

Essentially, no matter what transpired during the shoot, the team believed that interrupting the continuity of filming or altering the set ambiance by pausing and resuming was unnecessary given its emotional and significant impact.

First off, we have the upcoming Christmas special of “Call the Midwife” from this year. This episode will include a visit to an amusement park and it’s going to be a two-part series for the very first time.

Call the Midwife airs on BBC One and streams on iPlayer.
