Call the Midwife star reveals “spooky” encounters on set
Actress Rebecca Gethings from the show “Call the Midwife” has shared stories about the unusual experiences she’s had while filming, which she described as feeling rather eerie or unsettling.
The actress portraying Sister Veronica on the BBC series has shared that she and her fellow cast members have experienced some peculiar occurrences within the filming location, including lights flickering, strange echoes of male laughter in the hallway leading to the ladies’ restroom.
She added that she doesn’t usually visit that place alone, mentioning furthermore that the structure seems to be inhabited by a spirit of an Edwardian woman.
Outside Dr. Turner’s office, our medical professional heard a sound like a bang as they were securing the place for the evening, as Gethings clarified.
I ventured out for a run under the cover of night, snapped a picture, and upon closer inspection, I was astounded to discover an Edwardian woman, seeming to cradle a pig in the frame.
In the heart of Surrey lies Longcross Studios, the location where our period drama unfolds. A grand Victorian mansion stands in for Nonnatus House.
On Sunday night (January 26), I found myself captivated by Call the Midwife’s latest episode. This time around, we were introduced to Molly Vevers’ character, Sister Catherine Cantwell. She is a novice nun, eagerly preparing for her complete transformation into the Sisters of Raymond Nonnatus and her life as a midwife in Poplar – quite an exciting journey ahead!
In response to the broadcast of an episode, Veronica’s mother publicly expressed her joy in the comments section on social media, and the rest of the show’s actors also extended their encouragement to the latest addition to the cast.
Speaking about our dear Molly, portraying Sister Catherine, it seems as though she’s always been part of the cast. She’s blended in seamlessly, according to Gethings. Meanwhile, Sister Julienne actress Jenny Agutter commented: “She brings a delightful touch to her role.
As a follower, I resonate deeply with the vibrant, spirited aura that Sister Julienne exudes. Her eagerness to engage and express her profound affection for her faith is truly heartwarming. This enthusiasm brings back memories of my own devotion, making me appreciate her even more.
Call the Midwife airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
