As a long-time fan of Call the Midwife, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and sadness as the show enters its final week of filming for season 14. The series has been a constant companion through the years, providing comfort, laughter, and an occasional tear or two.


The TV series “Call the Midwife” has announced some exciting news – they’re wrapping up their filming for 2024 during the upcoming week.

The highly acclaimed BBC series is gearing up for Season 14, set to air in 2025, and it seems that the final stages of filming have been rather rainy.

On Instagram, the show shared a photo featuring actress Jenny Agutter (Sister Julienne) getting splashed with water and hinting at “the hazards of a damp situation.

Greetings everyone! This week has been incredibly bustling with filming activities for all our actors, who have been deeply immersed in their tasks. There’s an atmosphere reminiscent of the last days of school around here, and the camaraderie among the cast is palpable and joyful.

Just a heads up, it’s been quite chilly lately! To make things worse, they’ve had to shoot scenes during heavy downpours this week, which hasn’t exactly lifted their spirits.

Instead of relying on actual rain, the program demonstrated that they utilize a specific rain machine. This means that our crew gets thoroughly drenched with water for each shot.

As our story progresses and the characters enter new settings, it is then that our talented costume department steps in to maintain the appearance of our key actresses as though they’ve been continuously soaked – ensuring they remain visibly wet throughout the remainder of the filming day.

In the photo, Georgia, our reliable costume helper, is seen preparing for a rainy scene take by misting Jenny Agutter (Senior Julienne) with water spray before filming. Their polite chuckles suggest that this wet moment is far from enjoyable for them both.

Over the years, our nuns have encountered numerous hardships as depicted in ‘Call the Midwife’, however, one of the most challenging situations for them has been providing care to Poplar while dealing with a dripping simple!

Can’t help but wonder why we’re braving this chilly weather for our upcoming events? Guess you’ll just have to tune in and find out… ‘Call the Midwife’ is back with a heartwarming Christmas Special, followed by Series 14, starting early 2025. Stay tuned!

It’s worth noting that the show has planned a holiday special for Christmas time, prior to the start of a new season in the New Year. This special episode is expected to advance the storyline by transporting Nonnatus House into the 1970s.

As filming for “Call the Midwife” nears its conclusion, they hinted at a significant event approaching in the storyline of Zephyrn Taitte’s character, Cyril Robinson.
