Stephen McGann, a cast member from the show “Call the Midwife,” hinted at significant changes ahead for the series as it prepares for new ventures.
Audience members are aware that the BBC is currently working on a film, a prequel series, and a new season, along with a planned Christmas special in 2025.
Addressing the anticipated alterations for the franchise, the actor playing Dr Patrick Turner took the stage at the National Television Awards, speaking to RadioTimes.com.

He stated that there’s an abundance of changes on the horizon. Referring to ‘Call the Midwife’, he explained that the recent seasons hinted at significant transformations, subtly suggesting that things become quite authentic, without giving away any plot details. In essence, he was implying that some major developments are approaching.
McGann assured there would be even more heartfelt scenes reminiscent of the popular show “Call the Midwife” in the upcoming scripts. Moreover, he mentioned that the actors were taken aback by the recent script they had received.

He mentioned about the upcoming changes for the show: “Since we’ve explored travel before, things won’t be exactly the same moving forward. However, they will evolve into something new, so it’s hard to predict. In fact, even we might be the last ones to know!
The Christmas special episode of the show is going to be filmed in both Poplar and Hong Kong. In contrast, the movie will be set in 1972, as the characters travel abroad. And, interestingly enough, the prequel series transports us back to World War Two times.

In a different setting, following the NTAs where Call the Midwife won in the Returning Drama category, the actor portraying Fred Buckle, Cliff Parisi, expressed his appreciation for the show in an interview with the press backstage.
In a candid admission, he shared that after spending four and a half decades in television work, this particular show stands out as his absolute favorite. Throughout his career, he’s been involved with numerous productions for about a decade each. However, he considers this show to be exceptional – boasting the finest writing, an outstanding cast, top-notch production quality, and a delightful group of individuals that one could ever hope to work with.
