Call the Midwife finally answers fans’ burning question
Call the Midwife season 14, episode 7 spoilers follow.
The popular TV show, Call the Midwife, at last provides clarification on the comeback date for beloved character Nancy Corrigan, portrayed by Megan Cusack.
In the final episode of the BBC drama, a glimpse of the climax hinted towards the reappearance of characters Nancy and her partner Roger Noble (portrayed by Conor O’Donnell), who had an unexpected departure in the first episode.
Upon their return for the wedding, they are warmly welcomed at the doorstep by Miss Higgins (played by Georgie Glen), who affectionately embraces Nancy and her daughter Colette (performed by Francesca Fullilove).
During the penultimate episode last week, Colette came to Nonnatus to have her bridesmaid dress tailored, as she prepared for the upcoming wedding, while Nancy and Roger were not present.
There’s a lot of anticipation among fans as they eagerly look forward to hearing about Nancy coming back, ever since she left unexpectedly at such an early stage of the season.
As a dedicated gamer, I found myself puzzled when my favorite character, Nancy from “Call the Midwife,” was missing in action for most of this season. It turned out that she had moved on to work at a countryside hospital and even found a home there for herself, Nancy, and later Roger. Yet, I hadn’t anticipated her extended absence, especially given her significant role in Nonnatus House.
Users on social media voiced their worry, with one user posting: “Was Nancy absent, and was there no final episode? I can’t help but feel frustrated if she left so suddenly. She’s widely admired and deserves a fitting farewell.
A different fan inquired, “I can’t find Nancy. She was expected to marry this spring and ‘Call the Midwife’ is already in September now!
Besides Olly Rix, whose future on the show is also uncertain, it’s not just her character whose fate is being questioned. In fact, back in July 2024, there were rumors that actor Olly Rix would be joining the cast of Casualty, and since then, he has confirmed his new role on the show with exclusive photos.
On the joint Instagram post with Rix, the official BBC Casualty page extended a warm welcome to Olly Rix, saying: “Welcome to our Emergency Department, @olly.rix! Meet our latest Clinical Lead, Flynn Byron, who’s joining us after serving his duty. This man is determined and dedicated to making a positive impact. Keep an eye out for Flynn in the upcoming Casualty series, #InternalAffairs #CasualtyBoxset.
It remains unclear if he will reappear in future episodes of “Call the Midwife” as a regular character or if his character has been permanently written off, since an official confirmation about his departure has yet to be made public.
Call the Midwife airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
