Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 1 Update Has Inadvertently Nerfed Assault Rifles

As a seasoned Call of Duty: Black Ops player with countless hours under my belt, I must admit, I was pretty excited for Season 01. But, it seems Treyarch’s latest patch has left me more disappointed than a kid on Christmas morning who finds socks instead of presents. The assault rifle nerf is like being handed a Ferrari and then told to drive it at a snail’s pace – it just doesn’t feel right!

Yesterday saw the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 01, with developer Treyarch simultaneously releasing a new update. However, it seems this update has caused quite a few issues, the most noteworthy being an unintentional weakening (nerf) of assault rifles.

The potency and reach of assault rifles have been substantially reduced, according to Eurogamer. Previously, these weapons were effective at distances over 40 meters. However, now their effectiveness is limited to just beyond the 5.7-meter range, which is surprisingly short for an assault rifle, making them less functional than intended.

Moreover, the Ghost perk, which keeps you hidden from UAV and scout pulse, can only be utilized if you employ a workaround by duplicating it from a class that already carries it in their loadout. Treyarch has confirmed they are investigating problems with the Ghost perk, but have not yet publicly acknowledged any adjustments to the Assault Rifle (AR).

Simultaneously, the studio aims to address issues of unproductive behavior in Black Ops 6, such as players idling to increase their account levels without actually playing, and those who use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to play on different platforms to gain an advantage.

As a fellow enthusiast, I highly recommend checking out my take on the latest addition to the Call of Duty franchise: Black Ops 6! You can dive right into Season 01, but hold off on using assault rifles for now, as there’s a known issue being addressed. Happy gaming!
