As a seasoned Call of Duty veteran with decades of virtual combat under my belt, I must say, the latest turn of events regarding the reappearance and subsequent disappearance of legacy XP tokens in Black Ops 6 has left me both amused and exasperated. It’s like the game developers have a knack for keeping us on our toes!
With the debut of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 01, gamers were delightfully surprised to discover that legacy double XP tokens from earlier Call of Duty titles, such as Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, and Warzone, had been integrated into the game’s main hub.
As a dedicated fan, I was thrilled when it seemed like the classic XP tokens from the past would be usable in Black Ops 6. However, my excitement turned sour when they were suddenly taken away, leaving many of us disappointed. It seems that their unexpected appearance in the game introduced some potential risks to its stability, leading to their removal.
Despite not receiving legacy XP tokens directly in Black Ops 6 and Warzone, players have continued to request them. In response, developer Treyarch has provided a solution: using tokens in Warzone, then moving to Black Ops 6 while they’re active before they expire. This workaround was clarified by Treyarch in a post on their Twitter/X.
At the beginning of Season 1, there was a UI issue that let gamers use old XP tokens in Black Ops 6. This problem might have affected the game’s stability, which is why it was fixed yesterday, as stated by the studio. We understand how valuable it is for players to redeem legacy XP tokens in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone, so we are now testing a solution to correctly implement this feature in an upcoming update.
Treyarch mentions they’ll reinstate the usage of old XP tokens in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone as soon as they confirm the system’s stability. This should be implemented shortly. Furthermore, there’s been an update fixing the issues with the Assault Rifles in the game, which is great news.
