Call her Emma Walks-on? Emma Watson loses driver’s license for six months over a series of speeding tickets
Emma Watson, known for portraying Hermione Granger in all eight “Harry Potter” movies, was temporarily prohibited from driving in Britain for six months starting Wednesday. This penalty came as a result of accumulating over a dozen violation points on her driving license within a two-year period.
Television
In the forthcoming ‘Harry Potter’ series on HBO, Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton have been cast as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger respectively.
It was reported in various media outlets on Wednesday that she was mandated to pay over $1,400 (approximately 1,044 pounds) following her conviction. Despite being summoned to High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court, which is roughly 30 miles northwest of London, Watson chose not to attend the hearing. Instead, she had previously admitted to committing the offense by mail.
Actress from “Beauty and the Beast,” aged 35, currently has a record with nine incidents, according to the BBC. These charges were linked to events that took place in October 2023, November 2023, and January 2024.
The actress who starred in “Beauty and the Beast” is reported by the BBC to have a record of nine offenses, which occurred in October 2023, November 2023, and January 2024. She’s 35 years old.
On July 31, 2024, the latest traffic violation was recorded against Watson for driving her Audi A3 at 38 mph in a 30 mph area, as reported by The Mirror. This is the same vehicle that was towed back in February 2024 due to Watson failing to notice a “no parking” sign, obstructing a driveway, and causing several cars to be trapped inside a gated compound for over three hours while she went to meet her mother at a pub situated across the street.
Interestingly, actress Zoe Wanamaker, famously known as Madame Hooch from the 2001 movie “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” faced a similar consequence not long after Emma Watson’s driver’s license was suspended. According to The Sun’s report on Wednesday, she was ticketed for driving 46 mph in a 40 mph zone, which added to her fourth speeding violation and resulted in 12 points on her record.

Entertainment & Arts
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but join the buzz on social media about the latest photograph of Emma Watson floating gracefully in a captivating blue dress, seemingly defying gravity!
According to The Sun, Wanamaker was ordered to pay a fine of $885 (approximately 660 pounds), along with additional court costs amounting to $488 (around 364 pounds). Similarly, Watson’s total payment included both the fine and court costs.
In the United Kingdom, speeding infractions can result in between 3 to 6 penalty points per offense, with the specific number depending on the situation. These points remain on a driver’s license for four years. Offenses such as driving under the influence (referred to as “drink driving” or “drug driving” in the U.K.), vehicular manslaughter, racing on the highway, and “dangerous” or “furious” driving can result in up to 11 points each. More serious offenses stay on a driver’s record for up to 11 years.

Watson, who played Meg in “Little Women” on the silver screen in 2019 and then appeared in Prada’s promotional short film “Paradoxe” in 2022, is currently pursuing a Ph.D-level education in creative writing at Oxford University. She received her undergraduate degree from Brown University, Providence, R.I., in 2014.
On the “Harry Potter” side of things, with the magical story gearing up for its TV series revival, HBO unveiled on Tuesday a debut picture featuring Nick Frost dressed as Hagrid in the role previously played by Robbie Coltrane. Regrettably, Coltrane passed away in October 2022 due to multiple organ failure following two years of illness.
In the upcoming streaming series, it is John Lithgow who has been cast as Dumbledore, while three newcomers – Arabella Stanton, Dominic McLaughlin, and Alastair Stout – will portray Hermione, Harry, and Ron, respectively.
