Caleb McLaughlin, known for his role in Stranger Things, recently spoke about a gymnastics video that went viral, addressing rumors that it was a way for him to try out for the part of Miles Morales in a Marvel movie. He explained what he was hoping to show with the video and talked about whether he’d be interested in playing the popular character.
Caleb McLaughlin would like to be Miles Morales, but wasn’t auditioning for it
Caleb McLaughlin said he’d love to play Miles Morales, but he wants to make it clear he wasn’t trying out for the part.
He said he enjoyed making his gymnastics and martial arts videos on Instagram, but it was just a fun hobby he did with friends. He clarified that he wasn’t training for a role, specifically mentioning he wasn’t subtly auditioning for the part of Miles – he was just being himself, Caleb.
In an interview with E! News, McLaughlin expressed strong interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe if Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, reached out. He specifically mentioned wanting to play Miles Morales, repeating, “Miles, Miles.” McLaughlin also shared that he practices a hobby involving air manipulation, trained by someone he calls Chris, and described himself as a bit of a daredevil.
At the premiere of his new movie, Goat, McLaughlin reiterated his strong interest in playing Miles Morales. He explained that Miles embodies something significant, extending beyond himself and resonating with many people. As a New Yorker, McLaughlin feels a strong personal connection to the ‘Spider-Verse’ story and believes it deeply connects with audiences (according to Variety).
Rumors circulated that McLaughlin might be playing Miles Morales, fueled by posts showing him working out. However, he has since clarified that his training isn’t for any acting role.
Finn McLaughlin has finished filming his role as Lucas in Stranger Things, with the last season set to premiere on New Year’s Eve 2025. He’s also starring in the animated movie Goat, which tells the story of a goat named Will who becomes a professional roarball player. The film features a star-studded cast including Gabrielle Union, Stephen Curry, and Jennifer Hudson, among others.
Goat releases in theaters on February 13, 2026.
