In their inaugural season, The Ratones team created history by clinching victory in the European, Middle East, and African (EMEA) Masters. Marc “Caedrel” Lamont and his crew not only made waves but also established numerous records as they strived to establish themselves as the top EU team beyond the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC), a feat that has left many impressed.
Los Ratones in EMEA Masters
Following our triumph at the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) in the UK, we, Los Ratones, secured a spot to battle it out in the EMEA Masters Winter 2025. We were the lone champions from the NLC gracing the tournament.
In their league, Los Ratones suffered a single defeat at the hands of Karmine Corp Blue. Yet, they managed to triumph in the decisive match against E WIE EINFACH, thus securing their place in the playoffs.
In the heat of our first encounter with SuperMassive, I found myself diving into my team’s distinctive roster of champions. With the adrenaline pumping, I activated my mental ‘Fearless Mode’. LR, our strategic mastermind, chose sturdy champions like Simon “Baus” Hofverberg’s legendary gray Kayn in top lane, and for midlane Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek, he selected the reliable duo of Zilean and Ryze.
Team Phantasma advanced to the semifinals, making it a less challenging hurdle for LR who easily defeated the Greek league representatives. This victory earned them a spot in the grand final, where they faced off against Ici Japon Corp.
The IJC team wasn’t a pushover; they finished runner-up in the French League of Legends league (LFL). However, during the semifinals, they encountered KCB once again, rekindling their rivalry from the LFL finals. Surprisingly, this time around, IJC emerged victorious.
As a passionate fan, I can’t help but revel in the fact that Los Ratones completely dominated the grand final, securing a clean sweep of victories. The games were thrilling, filled with back-and-forth action that kept us all on the edge of our seats. It was truly well-deserved.
The spotlight, however, shone brightest on our extraordinary jungler, Veljko “Velja” Čamdžić. His exceptional performance earned him the prestigious Finals MVP accolade. Kudos to him!
Behind the scenes, our coach and team owner Caedrel took a moment to express heartfelt gratitude towards two key figures. Firstly, analyst Molecule, whose insights proved invaluable. Secondly, professional top laner Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to contribute to our success. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated.
This victory is particularly noteworthy given that it’s their inaugural season. Yet, its importance transcends the boundaries of the team itself.
Los Ratones set records after EUM win
In addition to being their first season, this season was also the initial venture for Baus, who is more commonly recognized as Thebausffs, with Los Ratones. Prior to joining LR, Baus was predominantly a streamer and gained notoriety in the League of Legends community for his “inting Sion” approach in high elo. He also coined terms such as “solo bolo” (meaning solo kill) and “we shilling” (meaning we’re chilling). In his tenure with LR, he has added a new term to the community: “i’m bee,” which signifies “I’m recalling.
Moving on to a more substantial topic, Team Los Ratones made history by becoming the first National League Championship (NLC) squad to clinch the EMEA Masters title, formerly known as the EU Masters. Prior to their success, the NLC wasn’t notably powerful, which makes this victory even more impressive.
In simple terms, League of Legends (LR) supported Martin “Rekkles” Larsson who made history by becoming the first player to win the EMEA Masters in two positions. Previously, during the EU Masters 2022 Spring, Rekkles emerged victorious as the bot laner for Karmine Corp.
Similar to Rekkles, bot lane player Juš “Crownie” Marušič and mid lane player Nemesis have a history of winning European Masters (EUM). Interestingly, they’ve worked together before, as they were teammates under MAD Lions in 2018 and successfully claimed the EUM 2018 Summer title together.
