As a long-time observer of Hollywood and its denizens, I must confess that Alec Baldwin‘s latest outburst left me utterly baffled. It seems that even after dodging a bullet (or rather a revolver) in the manslaughter case, he continues to spout venom instead of showing remorse or humility.

Instead of gracefully accepting the dismissal of the manslaughter case related to the fatal on-set shooting in July, actor Alec Baldwin has opted to spread anger and vitriol, rather than acknowledging his good fortune with humility.

In this instance, the individual born in New York has criticized his American counterparts during a speaking engagement at the Torino Film Festival in Italy. At a subsequent press conference, he lambasted what he perceived as a lack of knowledge among Americans regarding issues like climate change and the Ukraine conflict.

As per brash Baldwin’s opinion, Americans tend to process brief chunks of information, often while casually snacking on popcorn during a movie screening.

He grumbled, “There’s a missing piece of information that Americans are lacking. Some might call it an emptiness or void. Regardless, I refer to it as a gap. Interestingly, this vacancy often gets filled by the movie business.

Indeed, it’s the same film industry that has provided him with luxurious mansions for almost four decades. To be honest, as a Briton, we’ve often felt a sense of cultural superiority towards our American counterparts – but this casual, elitist criticism within our own territory smacks of the most unpatriotic, snobbish behavior imaginable.

In my own words, at a stage where prominent roles seem scarce, the 66-year-old actor, Mr. Baldwin, is endeavoring to portray himself as a scholarly, progressive individual. However, maintaining this image can be challenging when the rough and boisterous side of his persona, often compared to a diva, frequently resurfaces.

From those disheveled, fist flying outbursts at the press to his infamous indignation at the service in Starbucks, he’s an angry man-child that has always liked his own way.

2011 saw a tweet from a barrister, Jay, who was known for his stern demeanor, expressing his discontent about an incident where it seemed his coffee wasn’t served with the expected royal treatment.

In the heat of a contentious custody battle with my ex-wife, Kim Bassinger, I can’t help but remind everyone that I, at one point, lost my cool and left an angry voicemail for my then 11-year-old daughter, Ireland, referring to her as a “rude, thoughtless little pig.” It’s not something I’m proud of.

Indeed, finding himself as the honored guest at the Torino Film Festival, Baldwin was clearly in his comfort zone, lavishing on himself an unnecessary lifetime achievement award that only fueled his intellectual arrogance. Meanwhile, he unintentionally revealed his outdated and detached understanding of contemporary issues.

When asked for his thoughts on the rise of female film directors he responded that it is ‘a good thing’ – as long as they stick to ‘a comedy or a drama with a lot of talk’. You see, male directors are better for ‘energetic’ films, he explained.

Absolutely, one woman who couldn’t be named was Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer who tragically lost her life at the age of 42 when a revolver that Alec Baldwin was handling during rehearsals on the ‘Rust’ movie set in 2021 discharged.

This week, it was said he would appear, only if the topic of shooting wasn’t brought up – however, the ongoing drama still seems to cast a long shadow over his dwindling profession.

It could be the reason behind him needing to sell his Hamptons property at a reduced price of $10 million compared to its initial listing.

Additionally, it might be the reason he is preparing for a reality TV appearance alongside his wife Hilaria and their not one, but seven children.

In a manner that seemed as false as her husband’s saintly act, Hilaria hasn’t exactly improved his situation. Originally from Boston, educated at New York University, Hillary Lynn has surprisingly taken on the persona of an honorary Spaniard in the limelight – often forgetting the English word for cucumber during TV interviews on NBC’s Today Show and preparing ‘authentic’ gazpacho.

The pair appear to be portraying themselves as victims after the unfortunate Rust shooting incident, apparently angry at the suggestion of accountability and, heaven forbid, media attention.

The outcome has resulted in several insensitive public appearances – such as posing with the family in Halloween costumes straight after the incident, which ironically, is a joy that Halyna Hutchins, a mother herself, tragically didn’t get to experience.

Instead of being so rude, insensitive, and disrespectful to other Americans, maybe you should take a closer look at yourself, Alec. It might be you who lacks understanding.
