Burberry bounces back from huge job losses with its sanitised take on festivalwear: Iconic designer brings London Fashion Week to a close with star-studded front row

Burberry finished London Fashion Week with a spectacular show on Monday night. The spring/summer 2026 collection was presented in the private garden at Kensington Palace, belonging to the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Even though people living on the wealthy nearby streets didn’t appreciate the noise and traffic, everyone agreed the event attracted a fantastic lineup of celebrities.

Sir Elton John, 78, made a special appearance at the show. He wore a black coat and stood out with a bright red Burberry scarf.

He was joined by supermodel Naomi Campbell, 55, who stunned in a green velvet trouser suit.

Twiggy, 76, Alexa Chung, 41, and Iris Law, 24, all turned heads with their stylish outfits at the glamorous event.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 38, turned heads in a leather trench coat as she and her husband, action star Jason Statham, arrived together.

Jonathan Bailey, known for his role in Bridgerton, was among the attendees, along with actresses Vanessa Williams, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Ellie Bamber, and presenter Maya Jama.

Singer Raye, age 27, was supported by actresses Jennifer Saunders, 67, and Joanna Lumley, 79, who were both in attendance.

Tennis player Jack Draper, 23, and Ian Wright, 61, a former footballer who now works as a commentator, were also in attendance.

Many guests arrived wearing trench coats – in materials like suede, shiny patent leather, or traditional cotton. The runway also showcased a variety of trench coat styles, including bold versions in turquoise leather, snake print, and a striking green and red check pattern.

Burberry sees rainy days as good for business. The brand playfully suggests that rain isn’t a problem, but rather a chance to sell more coats and jackets.

The spring/summer 2026 collection featured a lot of silk bomber jackets, shiny raincoats, and large wax cotton parkas, all reminiscent of the style worn by Liam Gallagher of Oasis.

Creative director Daniel Lee drew a connection between fashion and music with his new collection, envisioning outfits perfect for a classic British festival like Reading or Glastonbury. Though, some of the pieces are so stylish you might hesitate to risk getting them dirty at either event!

I absolutely loved the fashion at the festival! So many people were rocking these really cute crocheted bralettes, and there were tons of skinny knitted scarves. Everyone was also wearing these perfectly shrunken T-shirts and adorable mini shift dresses. And the boots! They weren’t just stylish, but looked like they could handle any muddy conditions – seriously practical and cool.

Burberry, a famous British luxury brand with a rich history, was started by Thomas Burberry in 1856 and is currently experiencing a period of success.

Despite announcing the loss of 1,700 jobs – nearly 20% of its employees – in May, the company’s share value has actually doubled, and it’s now estimated to be worth around £4.5 billion.

The brand has successfully marketed a romanticized and polished image of British festivals to people around the world, largely by emphasizing its British roots and featuring popular British celebrities in its ads.

The show provided a cheerful conclusion to a positive week, marking the first one with Laura Weir as the new head of the British Fashion Council.

Simone Rocha, Erdem, Roksanda, and Richard Quinn were also stand-out designers at London Fashion Week, each showcasing their latest collections.
