Buffy’s Sarah Michelle Gellar reveals secret to 22-year marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the fantastical worlds of Buffy and Dexter, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe at the enduring love story of Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. Their relationship, much like my characters in their respective shows, has faced its fair share of supernatural challenges and yet, they’ve managed to slay those metaphorical vampires time and again.

Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, famously known for playing Buffy the Vampire Slayer, recently revealed the foundation of her successful marriage with Freddie Prinze Jr. – and that’s consistent effort and dedication.

They’ve been a couple since 2000, having collaborated on films like “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Scooby-Doo”. The duo got married two years after that, in 2002.

Two decades have passed, and the couple remain blissfully wedded. Gellar shared with Fox News Digital (through BANG Premier) that their bond continues to thrive, attributing this to the effort they’ve invested over time.

In simple terms, Gellar expressed that every type of relationship – be it friendship, work, or marriage – requires effort. “You need to invest time and energy,” she said. “Sadly, our society today tends to discard things easily, such as when your phone breaks, you buy a new one instead of repairing it. This careless attitude seems to extend to relationships as well.

Back in 2022, Prinze Jr, known for his role as Fred Jones in “Scooby-Doo” and “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed”, discussed his marriage to Gellar. He revealed that three activities – preparing meals together, sharing laughter, and keeping their shared living space tidy – have been instrumental in maintaining their relationship.

As a fortunate son, nurtured by a culinary genius mother, I mastered the art of cooking. Life took an unexpected turn when I wedded someone who struggled in the kitchen. Consequently, my skills became indispensable – she relies on me to keep her belly full and her spirit high! The second reason I’m irreplaceable? Humor. To this day, I manage to tickle her funny bone.

The celebrity, who’s known for being in “Star Wars Rebels,” shared, “I clean the dishes as I cook to minimize clutter, as I can’t stand mess. My room and car are always tidy. A day late on my haircut is driving me mad.

In their ongoing contentment together, Gellar has gradually come back to acting lately following a brief break, most recently portraying Tanya Martin on the series “Dexter: Original Sin”.
