Actor James Marsters, known for his role in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, suggests that the forthcoming reboot of the popular series will fulfill a well-known “pledge” made to its enthusiastic fanbase.
Earlier this year, it has been officially announced that the cherished series will make a comeback on screens, with Sarah Michelle Gellar reprising her legendary role as Buffy Summers. This is more than two decades after the show ended its seven-season journey in 2003.
Marsters, who portrayed the British punk vampire Spike in the original series, recently hinted that the upcoming project may finally deliver on the teased premise from the start of each Buffy episode.
The actor clarified in a recent interview with Reach that at the start of each episode, we would state, “A new slayer rises for every generation.
That pledge remained unfulfilled, and now, I believe, it’s long overdue for someone to take action.

It’s been verified that Gellar won’t be the main character but will reappear frequently in the remake. Therefore, it’s logical to expect the introduction of a fresh Slayer to carry on the role.
Marsters further discussed his bond with Gellar and shared the reason behind the series’ longevity, stating: “She is simply extraordinary. I truly think that if another actor had portrayed Buffy, we wouldn’t have made it for seven seasons.
Since we were working for about 20 hours a day, leaving little time for rest, and considering she featured in nearly every scene, it’s safe to say that she didn’t get much sleep.

In approximately one-fourth of the scenes, I was present, and it left me feeling like ashes. I can hardly fathom what my mental state would’ve been if I had her workload. By season 5, I believe I may have experienced a breakdown, as anyone likely would under such circumstances.
Typically, TV series shoot for approximately 12 hours daily, which can be quite exhausting. However, Sarah was an exception; she was consistently present, never showed signs of fatigue, was always punctual, maintained a positive demeanor, memorized her lines flawlessly, and gave an exceptional performance. In essence, she was a true workhorse.
As a result, everyone else found it hard to unwind since she was consistently sharp and precise. Truly remarkable.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer can be streamed in full on Disney+ and ITVX.
