The Block contestants Han and Can have hit another major hurdle.
On Wednesday’s episode of the Channel Nine renovation program, host Scott Cam told the passionate couple from Western Australia that they had exceeded their budget by $6000, which came as a huge disappointment to them.
Because they went over budget, the pair are now likely unable to finish both their landscaping project and the shed they’ve playfully named their ‘art studio’.
Scott was direct and didn’t sugarcoat things when he shared the disappointing news after reviewing the project’s financial statements regarding the build.
He explained to them during the walk-through, ‘Of the money I originally allocated in the budget, you exceeded it by $80,000 – it’s all been spent.‘
He also pointed out to Can and Han that they had quickly spent the $50,000 they were given earlier this week.

‘I didn’t realise how grave the situation was,’ a visibly upset Can said.
‘There’s massive concern about completing.
‘It’s maybe the worst day on The Block.’
Throughout the show, Scott seemed to suggest that the problem with the budget stemmed from the couple wanting to transform their garden shed into an art studio, a project that would involve adding plaster and insulation.
Later in the episode, things became quite emotional as Han, clearly upset, attempted to finish building the shed by herself.
Blockhead Britt later turned up to offer help, telling Han that she could use her chippies.
‘Your customer base is different from mine. I don’t see you as a rival. I truly hope you succeed,’ Britt stated before offering Han a reassuring hug.
At the same time, Britt encountered some disagreement back at headquarters. Her teammate, Taz, pointed out that Can and Han had previously caused problems for them regarding their strategy.

‘Kill them with kindness,’ Britt replied.
This happened following a period of disruption at The Block on Monday, when inspections led to a heated conflict between two competing teams. The long-standing tensions finally boiled over, causing chaos.
Popular contestants Britt and Taz strongly criticized Sonny and Alicia’s room design, but their criticism quickly fell flat. Other competitors responded by pointing out significant painting mistakes in Britt and Taz’s own renovation.
Alicia also turned her fire on rival Can, mocking House 4’s near miss on the scoreboard.
The heated arguments happened shortly after Sonny reported Britt and Taz for starting work on their outdoor deck before they were supposed to. This violation led to Foreman Dan stopping them from continuing the building project.
To make matters worse, the couple’s idea to convert half of their shed into a wine bar was met with disapproval from Site Manager Aidan. He told them directly: ‘It’s a shed – make it a shed.‘
Sonny and Alicia, by contrast, confirmed their shed would remain traditional.
The situation even came up during dinner, with many contestants arguing for stricter punishments. Some even proposed that Britt and Taz should be made to destroy their deck of cards.
Han, still upset about losing by only half a point in the competition, stated: ‘They’re the judges, they should understand – if you violate the rules, you’ll receive a penalty.’
