As a horror connoisseur with decades of spine-tingling experiences under my belt, I must say that Shudder’s October lineup is nothing short of a chilling symphony of fear. The array of terrifying tales and bloodcurdling movies they have planned has me eagerly counting down the days until Halloween.

As a thrill-seeker eagerly anticipating chilling experiences, I’m excited to share that Shudder has revealed their October schedule, marking the start of their Seasons of Screams event. Let’s take a peek at what Shudder has in store during their Season of Screams before we move on to the upcoming films. In October, The Ghoul Log, which resembles those Yule Log videos but with a creepy jack-o’-lantern vibe, will return as an ideal setting for your Halloween gatherings and pumpkin carving sessions. Plus, Shudder’s Programming Head Samuel Zimmerman is back again for his yearly Halloween Hotline. By dialing during a designated timeframe, subscribers can receive tailored horror suggestions from Sam himself.

Other horror titles joining Shudder this month are “Horror’s Greatest” (available September 24) and “Oddity” (available September 27). Starting today, Shudder TV will host live watch parties. Buckle up for Shudder's super-sized Season of Screams (and it starts NOW)!

October 1:

The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula (Shudder Original Series) returns for its sixth season, which they’ve named “Season 666.” The lineup includes fresh contestants, enhanced competition tasks, numerous celebrity judges, and novel floor show motifs.

Quietly now, if you haven’t watched this movie yet, you’re in store for a real treat! The Mike Flanagan film was available on Netflix for years before it was taken down earlier this year. In the story, Kate Siegel plays a deaf and mute writer who lives secluded in a forest house. When a masked murderer arrives, she must battle to survive.

Step back to the ’80s and join a TV station as they mark Halloween by exploring a supposedly haunted house live on air. This engaging movie employs video camera footage to create an authentic atmosphere consistent with its time period.

Exorcist III – As a police lieutenant, George C. Scott delves into murders seemingly orchestrated by the infamous Gemini killer. However, there’s a twist – Gemini has already perished. The focus, therefore, shifts towards the patients confined at a mental institution. This film boasts one of the most effective jump scares ever conceived.

In a previous encounter, the character Father Merrin, whom you might recognize as the one who assisted the young girl Regan, encountered the demon named Pazuzu – this happened many years prior in Kenya.

Nightbreed – A Young Man’s Unwelcome Visitors from the Dark

1980’s film “Friday the 13th” – A group of youthful camp counselors decide to aid in reopening the hauntingly-named Camp Crystal Lake, a site marred by past brutal murders. Unfortunately, their decision proves fatal for most of them.

Five years down the line, efforts are being made to set up a new summer camp nearby the old Camp Crystal Lake site…but it doesn’t seem like things will end well.)

In the sequel titled “Friday the 13th Part III,” the menacing figure of Jason Voorhees reappears, this time targeting good-looking youths around the Crystal Lake region, continuing his brutal spree.

Friday the 13th – Fourth Installment: The False Finale

Friday the 13th Part V: A Fresh Start for Tommy Jarvis

On Friday the 13th in the sixth installment, titled “Jason Lives,” Tommy seems to have a penchant for trouble. He unearths the corpse of Jason with the intention of cremating him, but instead of ending the menace, he accidentally resurrects the killer. Can you guess what Jason proceeds to do?

Title Translation: Friday the 13th Part VII – Unintentionally Reviving Jason: A Tale of a Telekinetic Teenager’s Struggle Against His Bloodthirsty Rampage

Title rephrased: Once More Unto the Breach, Old Jason Comes! He’s Back Yet Again, Wreaking Havoc on a Ship Full of High School Students Sailing Towards Manhattan.

“One of my preferred spooky Halloween-themed horror films features a group of friends journeying across the United States to explore Halloween haunted houses. However, the frightening moments don’t stop at these attractions as it turns out they are being pursued.

“3 from Hell” – Reunite with the Firefly clan as they make a daring breakout from prison! The trio consisting of Baby, Otis, and Foxy embark on an exhilarating journey to Mexico. Their adventure is filled with mayhem, hilarity, and bloodshed along the way.

31 by Rob Zombie: “A group of five carnival employees are abducted and imprisoned within a nightmarish carnival-like setting. They’re compelled to engage in a vicious game, the objective being simply to endure twelve hours amidst a horde of malevolent clowns intent on causing harm.

In a nutshell, the film “The Devil’s Rejects” follows the escapades of the firefly clan, who are evading Sheriff Wydell, whose insanity isn’t far behind their own.

“The Witch’s Gift from Salem” – Radio host Heidi in Salem receives an unusual record, labeled “A Gift from the Lords.” Listening to this record triggers visions of a malevolent coven of witches seeking retribution.

Rob Zombie’s take on Halloween provides additional insight into the past of Michael Myers, the antagonist, prior to his terrifying pursuit of Laurie Strode in the town of Haddonfield.

Following the occurrences in Halloween, Laurie Strode grapples with the aftermath of her ordeal, while Dr. Loomis plans to pen a book, and Michael Myers yearns for a reunion with his sibling, Laurie.

In the movie “It Follows”, Maika Monroe (known as ‘Longlegs’ here) delivers an outstanding performance as a character named Jay. Following a romantic encounter, Jay becomes the target of a mysterious and supernatural entity that persistently pursues her.

October 4:

Experience chills with the Shudder Original Film titled “V/H/S/Beyond”: Here, you’ll find six fresh, heart-stopping tales presented as videos or tapes.

Chucky’s White House Adventure – The murderous doll finds a new home within the U.S. President’s son’s possession, causing the iconic White House to be tainted by a chilling wave of blood.

October 7:

A diverse gathering is summoned to watch an enigmatic film in a cinema, but soon discover they’re unable to leave due to the arrival of bloodthirsty beings masquerading as demons.

Demons II – The Untold Terror

In Dario Argento’s 1982 thriller, titled “Tenebrae,” the story revolves around an American author named Peter. He travels to Rome for book promotions. However, things take a sinister turn when a fan with an unhealthy obsession starts bothering Peter. Remarkably, murders that mirror those depicted in Peter’s novels start happening.

In another Argento movie, Jennifer – a schoolgirl – has an unusual gift of talking to insects. When she moves to a prestigious Swiss boarding school, there’s hope that this peculiar talent might aid in finding a murderer.

Echoes of Father’s House (Shudder Original Film) – A sudden death leaves a young boy living with his stepmother in her rural abode. As they both struggle with their sorrow, the boy starts hearing eerie sounds and catching glimpses of something resembling his father.

October 15:

Trial (or Tryout) – A disturbing Japanese horror film, famous for a particularly unsettling scene, revolves around a widower seeking a new spouse. He discovers a woman who captures his heart, but she harbors secrets far from ordinary.

The Vanishing: In the Shadows – “An investigator specializing in supernatural phenomena disappears during the production of a documentary on an age-old demonic entity.”

October 18:

MadS (Original Film from Shudder) – After graduating, Romain chooses to mark the occasion by experimenting with a novel substance. On his way to a party, he encounters a woman who appears injured beside the road and stops to assist. However, once inside his vehicle, she starts violently hitting her head against the dashboard, ultimately perishing. This unfortunate incident is merely the beginning of Romain’s long and harrowing night.

October 25:

Azrael (Shudder Original Film) – In a future where no one speaks, Samara Weaving plays the character Azrael, held captive. Upon her escape, a secretive faction pursues her for ritualistic sacrifice. However, Azrael refuses to go quietly and fights back instead.

October 28:

On Halloween night, young Douglas yearns for a fun evening of trick-or-treating. Setting off on his own, he befriends an individual wearing a devil costume. Together, they adorn the man’s yard with what appears to be lifeless bodies, but are actually harmless decorations.

October 30:

The Exorcism (Exclusive Film on Shudder) – Anthony Miller portrayed by Russell Crowe is a thespian involved in a horror film production. As his mental stability becomes shaky, it’s unclear to his daughter Lee whether he’s relapsing into his old addictive behaviors or if something more sinister is at play.
