Bryce Dallas Howard on Jurassic World Journey

The Jurassic Park franchise began in 1993 with the movie of the same name, directed by Steven Spielberg. Since then, there have been two additional film series.

The well-known actress and director portrayed Claire Dearing, the operations manager at Jurassic World. In the next film, her character became the founder and head of the Dinosaur Protection Group. Howard really enjoyed working on the three movies, as it was the first time she’d played the same character across multiple films. “I hadn’t previously had the chance to play a character in several projects. I’ve never been in a TV series, or done anything that continued over time,” she explained.

She went on to say, “I think that’s the clearest way to put it,” explaining that a follow-up to the 2015 movie wasn’t guaranteed. She added that she always considered Jurassic World to be a complete story on its own.

Once we officially started working on the project, my first thought was, ‘I’m keeping my hair long. I want you to be able to see how much time has passed between the two films just by looking at its growth.’

She explained that her experience with the dinosaur films also mirrored her personal journey with her hair. “My hair story and the process of growing it out were really important to me, and of course, as you grow and age, so does the character you play.”

Honestly, I really fell in love with playing this character. I’ve been at it for a while now, and it’s allowed for a lot of introspection – I’ve been doing a lot of thinking while playing! It was really fun and just great overall. I’ve genuinely enjoyed the experience.

The Jurassic World Continued

Although Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt finished their run with the series after 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, the dinosaur films returned in 2024 with Jurassic World Rebirth. This new installment introduced a fresh cast, including Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis, Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid, Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs, and Manuel Garcia Rulfo as Reuben Delgado. The ensemble was completed by Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein.

Critics had a divided reaction to the new release, giving it a “rotten” 50% score while audiences rated it 71%. Despite this, the film was a huge hit with audiences. As of now, Jurassic World Rebirth is the third-highest-grossing film in Hollywood, earning $866.3 million globally. It trails only Disney’s live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch and A Minecraft Movie, both of which surpassed $1 billion.

Following a successful run in theaters, the new film will be available to stream on Peacock starting October 30th. There’s also talk of a potential digital release, though Universal hasn’t officially confirmed it yet.
