Bryan Cranston’s classic ’00s sitcom set for reboot with key cast returning
As a long-time fan of the brilliantly quirky and relatable sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle,” I am absolutely thrilled at the news that Disney+ is bringing back this beloved series! The thought of Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek reprising their iconic roles has me practically bouncing off the walls like Malcolm himself!
Disney Plus is preparing a revival of the beloved 2000s sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle,” with many original cast members set to return for the new version.
The original creator of the series, Linwood Boomer, is bringing back the family comedy for a special, four-episode event – perfectly timed as we approach the show’s 25th anniversary next year. A specific air date has not been announced yet (as reported by Variety).
In the upcoming continuation, Frankie Muniz is going to once again play the character Malcolm, with Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek expected to step back into their roles as Malcolm’s parents, Hal and Lois.
On Friday, December 13th, a video posted to the official Disney+ Instagram account saw the threesome announcing their thrilling update.
18 years ago, this moment was something I had been eagerly anticipating. It’s time to reconnect with Malcolm and his family and see where their lives have taken them, Muniz expressed in the video, followed by Cranston’s enthusiasm: “It’s 25 years since we first aired Malcolm in the Middle. I’m so thrilled that my excitement might have caused me to wet myself just a little bit.
Kaczmarek was happy to find himself in a position where he could scold the child once more. He expressed great enthusiasm about reuniting with the family, eager to catch up on their recent activities.
“Malcolm (Muniz) is compelled to join the family fuss as Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) insist he attends their 40th wedding anniversary celebration.
In this production setup, Boomer is tasked with penning the upcoming episodes, whereas Ken Kwapis takes on the directorial role. The collaborative effort of 20th Television and New Regency, who were instrumental in the initial show through their joint venture Regency Television, is responsible for producing these new creations under Disney Branded Entertainment.
According to Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, “Malcolm in the Middle” stands out as a significant sitcom because it masterfully portrayed the realities of family life using humor, emotion, and a touch of relatability.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement about revisiting this series! Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of an unpredictable family struck a chord with gamers of all ages, and I simply can’t wait to see the original cast reunite to recreate that magical experience.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to be on board for the upcoming episodes, led by Linwood Boomer and his creative crew. They’re promising all the laughter, tricks, and chaos we adore, coupled with some unexpected twists that underscore why this series remains evergreen!
Back in the early 21st century, I found myself deeply engrossed in a TV show called “Malcolm in the Middle.” This gem aired on Fox for an impressive seven seasons, from 2000 to 2006. The series revolved around the extraordinary character of young Malcolm, and his unconventional family, with a keen focus on their tumultuous dynamics and struggles to find their place in society.
The one-camera shooting approach was later adopted in numerous sitcoms such as The Office, 30 Rock, Modern Family, and Arrested Development.
During its six-year run, the show earned seven Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award and a Peabody Award.
Malcolm in the Middle is streaming now on Disney+.
