As an ardent admirer of Jay Leno, I have always been captivated by his indomitable spirit and resilience. The man is nothing short of a miracle, a testament to human grit and determination. His latest ordeal, a 60ft fall and a car fire that left him with second-degree burns, broken wrist, and a swollen eye, would have left many in despair. But not Jay. He’s back behind the wheel just days after the incident, proving once again that he is indeed the Energizer Bunny of comedy.

Bruised Jay Leno got back behind the wheel just days after a horror 60ft fall left him with a broken wrist and sporting an eyepatch.

74-year-old renowned host shared that he broke his wrist and was struck in the eye by stones on his way to dinner on Saturday. This happened only three hours prior to his live broadcast, where he also sustained second-degree burns from a car fire in November 2022.

Previously known Tonight Show host demonstrated clear signs of healing when he navigated his vehicle through Los Angeles streets on a Wednesday.

As I navigated the road with my bandaged wrist and sporting bruises on my face, I removed my eye patch during our chat, revealing my undaunted spirit.

Leno previously joked about the incident to Inside Edition.

He said: ‘I hit a bunch of rocks, it was 60 feet. I broke my wrist. Lost my nail on the finger, I’m all black and blue from 60 feet of hitting rocks.

‘The rock hit me in the eye, I’m fine!’ – before adding his left eye is currently swollen shut.

Despite his wounds, he visited the restroom at the restaurant before heading to the stage later that evening, showing remarkable resilience.

Afterward, he made his way back home to take the stage in Los Angeles on Sunday evening. Moreover, Leno confessed that he hasn’t visited a physician as of now, but he intends to do so soon.

In the month of November, 2022, Leno suffered severe burns after an old-fashioned 1907 steam engine he was tinkering with in his garage suddenly burst and struck him in the face.

Leno was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out at his garage that houses several classic cars as part of his collection.

George Swift, who works as a mechanic in the comedian’s private garage, shared with ET that it was actually a steam-powered vehicle which led to the comedian’s hospitalization.

Swift, our mechanic from the garage, mentioned that it was a steam-powered vehicle. The steam came from compressed gas which was then sprayed out as gas itself.

The employee said that he received a call from someone who informed him about a fire, and they mentioned that the fire department was on its way. He went on explaining this further.

At approximately 12:30 AM that day, the Burbank Fire Department was called out to a residence believed to be that of a late-night talk show host. Upon arrival, they attended to and cared for a single adult male.

After that, Leno was moved to a nearby hospital’s emergency department, where he was later relocated to the Grossman Burn Center for additional treatment.

The representative from the healthcare facility shared with People magazine that Leno was in high spirits and moved by everyone’s concern about his health and their well-wishes.

He wishes to make it clear that he is thriving and currently receiving care at the top-tiered burn unit in the U.S.

Leno later issued a statement himself, saying he ‘got some serious burns from a gasoline fire.’

‘I am ok,’ the former late-night host said. ‘Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.’

Additionally, he shared with TMZ that it was his friend, Dave, who acted swiftly to rescue him; Dave leaped onto him and suffocated the fire.

The host mentioned that while fixing a blocked fuel line, gasoline sprayed onto his hands and face.
