Bruce Willis plays with daughter Evelyn in sweet throwback video
As a compassionate observer, I am deeply moved by the resilience and strength of Emma Heming Willis as she navigates through the challenging journey of caring for her husband Bruce Willis, who is battling Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD). Her story is one of hope, love, and unity, as she receives unwavering support from her blended family, including Bruce’s daughter Rumer Glenn Willis and ex-wife Demi Moore.
On a sunny Sunday, I happened to reminisce about a heartwarming moment captured years ago when my beloved partner, Bruce Willis, was seen carrying our little treasure, Evelyn Penn Willis, on his broad shoulders as we meandered through the bustling streets of Manhattan. The video, a sweet throwback, brought back memories of simpler times and our family’s love for the city.
The elderly gentleman, aged 69, was overheard having a soft conversation with his young 10-year-old daughter. Before demonstrating his acting prowess, he playfully advised her, “There’s no need for you to worry about me biting your leg!
In response, small Evelyn chuckled delightfully as she playfully patted Bruce’s (formerly known as Walter) cheeks with her little hands.
Back in the year 2019, I happened upon an old video clip that seemed to have been recorded, little did I know, three years prior to the time when my beloved actor, Bruce Willis, was officially diagnosed with aphasia – a condition that later evolved into Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD).
The partner of the two-time Emmy winner, aged 46 and with a million followers on social media, labeled a sweet father-daughter video as: “The most comfortable spot available.
In a response to Emma’s post, Bruce’s 33-year-old daughter Scout LaRue Willis used two emoticons expressing joy and tears of happiness.
And Willis’ 30-year-old daughter Tallulah Belle Willis commented: ‘Love.’
Bruce Willis, who tied the knot with Emma Heming back in 2009, is not only a Die Hard veteran but also a loving parent to their 12-year-old daughter named Mabel Ray Willis.
In her recent interview with Town & Country, the advocate stated that she has always been honest with them. Over the years, they have witnessed Bruce’s decline. She is not attempting to protect them from this reality.
‘Our therapist taught us that when children ask questions, it means they are prepared to hear the answer. If I notice Bruce is having difficulties, I would explain it to the kids so they can comprehend. However, this condition is one that doesn’t have a cure, and it progresses over time, eventually becoming fatal. I prefer not to discuss the terminal aspect of this with them, as they haven’t shown interest in that topic yet. They understand that their father won’t recover.’
On November 1st, Emma and pseudonymous author Michele Levy Bender submitted the initial version of their unnamed 2025 book, which is devoted to caring caregivers affected by FTD (Frontotemporal Degeneration), a role that Emma can relate to personally.
Heming stated, ‘The book I wish they had given me at our FTD diagnosis is the one I’m holding now. I yearn for a moment when someone could have said, “I understand this is terrible and distressing, but you will find your way through it.”‘
Instead of having numerous plans for shared memories with our daughters, there were countless joyous activities we envisioned enjoying as a family. Suddenly, those pages are torn out, leaving us wondering how to reshape the narrative. I’m figuring out ways to regain some control over our story.
The co-founder of Make Time Wellness expresses her heartfelt appreciation for the backing she receives from her extended family, which includes Rumer Glenn Willis (daughter of Bruce) and Demi Moore (former spouse of Bruce), who they divorced in 2000 after 11 years together.
Emma pointed out, “They are incredibly kind, caring, and useful, but many people lack such qualities.
The family admires how I care for him and they strongly back me up. Whenever I feel the urge to express my emotions, be it crying, yelling or any other feelings, which are normal and allowed, they are consistently available to lend an ear.
In the coming year, Heming is set to receive the Susan Newhouse & Si Newhouse Award of Hope from The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD), acknowledging his efforts in raising awareness about this incurable condition.
Previously, the renowned actor Willis, known for earning over $9.4 billion globally through his films, finished his last acting role as Valmora in Jesse Atlas’ 2023 film titled “Assassin,” which is a body-hopping action thriller. This performance was filmed all the way back in 2021.
