Bruce Springsteen fan spots a condiment howler in new biopic that *no one else* could have seen

I just saw the Bruce Springsteen movie, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, and it’s really good! Jeremy Allen White, who you probably know from The Bear, does an amazing job playing Bruce. But, someone pointed out something funny – there’s a tiny mistake in the movie! It’s small, but it definitely made me laugh. Scott Cooper directed it, by the way, and it’s playing in theaters now.

The movie quickly establishes Faye (Odessa Young) as Bruce’s new girlfriend. During a New Year’s Eve date pickup, Bruce meets Haley, Faye’s daughter, who casually mentions she just ate a hot dog.

When the boy asked what sauce she used, he proudly announced it was mustard, and Springsteen happily replied that it was his favorite as well.

Although the scene was charming, a fan on Twitter/X noted it wasn’t quite right. Bruce Springsteen is actually known for disliking mustard in real life.

A fan pointed out a funny contradiction: In his book, Deliver Me from Nowhere, Bruce Springsteen claims mustard is his favorite hotdog topping. However, the fan shared a clip of Springsteen actually complaining about mustard during a concert, revealing he really dislikes it!

During the show, Springsteen was telling a story about his go-to sandwich: ham, cheese, lettuce, and plenty of mayonnaise – but hold the mustard.

He stated firmly, “I really don’t like mustard at all—not on hot dogs, not on sandwiches, not anywhere.”

The post sparked a discussion among Bruce Springsteen fans, and one commenter shared their strong reaction, saying, “Thank you! I literally gasped when I heard that.”

It’s clear Bruce Springsteen doesn’t like mustard, even though some thought the movie version of him might have pretended otherwise when speaking with Faye’s child.

Someone else commented that it was a great effort, but they’d likely tell the child that they also loved what they had done.

Someone else commented that it was likely an oversight, but also suggested he might have been just being kind to the girl.

Some believe the scene could have been a subtle nod to Springsteen fans – a hidden detail they would have quickly recognized.

One fan pointed out a funny moment – a character was discovering what a child loved, and it seemed like a nod to the audience. They believe the line was intentionally included as a playful reference for fans who would understand the inside joke, since it’s the kind of detail everyone enjoys.

“This is honestly so specific that I feel like it’s gotta be on purpose,” a fifth person noted.

Since Bruce Springsteen actively participated in the film’s production, this idea doesn’t sound unbelievable. The mystery surrounding the ‘mustard incident’ remains unsolved for now.

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is in cinemas now.
