Bruce Lee x LỰU ĐẠN Is a Tribute to the “Little Dragon”

Summary

  • LỰU ĐẠN is collaborating with the Bruce Lee Institute for AAPI Heritage Month. They’re using artificial intelligence to virtually dress archival photos of Bruce Lee in designs from their latest collection.

  • This collection draws inspiration from Bruce Lee’s film “Game of Death,” featuring colors, hoodies with bold graphics, and a fiery bomber jacket. It honors Lee’s lasting impact in Hollywood while offering a contemporary perspective rooted in Vietnamese American culture.

Hung La, the founder of LỰU ĐẠN, is a huge Bruce Lee fan. To celebrate AAPI Month, his brand collaborated with the official Bruce Lee Institute on a special collection. Instead of using an actor to portray Bruce Lee, they worked with the Institute to use actual archival photos of the martial arts legend. They then used AI and editing techniques to digitally ‘dress’ Bruce Lee in the new clothing line for the launch campaign.

Hung La, a Vietnamese American designer, has always been a fan of Bruce Lee’s films. He was particularly inspired by Lee’s determination to succeed in Hollywood. This early appreciation was reinforced when La watched Bao Nguyen’s 2021 documentary, Be Water, which detailed the challenges of entering the entertainment world. The collaboration with the Bruce Lee estate began when Nguyen visited the LỰU ĐẠN showroom in 2023.

The collection features t-shirts and hoodies showcasing classic images and colors reminiscent of Bruce Lee’s most famous outfits, including the yellow jumpsuit from ‘Game of Death’. A standout piece is a bomber jacket with flame designs inspired by old-school Kung Fu films, and it includes a large belt buckle with Bruce Lee’s image on it.

Bruce Lee x LỰU ĐẠN is available now at the brand’s webstore and select retailers.
