Brooks Nader admits she used Ozempic before Dancing With The Stars but quit over common side-effect
As a seasoned observer of the glamorous world of dance and celebrity, I find myself captivated by the story of Brooks, a DWTS contestant who embarked on an incredible journey of transformation both physically and emotionally. Her resilience, determination, and grace under pressure are truly commendable.
Brooks Nader is coming clean about having experimented with the popular weight-loss drug Ozempic.
The 27-year-old Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covergirl shared with Us Weekly on Tuesday during the Bio.Me launch that she initially tried a small amount, and it seemed everyone was participating in it.
However, the adverse effects proved overwhelming for the model, as she was simultaneously perspiring and dancing on live national television.
“She shared that it caused her to feel quite queasy,” or “She disclosed it gave her a strong feeling of nausea.
Brooks participated in a well-known dance competition reality show alongside her dancing partner, Gleb Savchenko, during which they were romantically involved.
Semaglutide goes by the brand name Ozempic, and it’s a drug often prescribed for managing type-2 diabetes and obesity issues.
Ozempic is a drug that has been approved by the FDA for managing diabetes, but interestingly, it’s also marketed under the name Wegovy when used for treating obesity.
Tirzepatide, a drug comparable to other weight-loss medications, goes by two different names depending on its intended use: Mounjaro when used for treating diabetes, and Zepbound in cases where it is prescribed for weight management purposes.
Medication slows the rate at which food moves from the stomach to the intestines, causing individuals to feel satisfied faster, thus potentially preventing excessive eating, and aiding in maintaining balanced blood sugar levels.
Man, let me tell you, I’ve been a die-hard fan for years, and I’ve learned that following in the footsteps of my idols can have its challenges. For instance, Brooks here, he went through some tough times due to side effects like nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, and exhaustion – just to name a few. It’s not all glitz and glamour, you know?
However, controversy has swirled around semaglutide and tirzepatide variants in recent years.
In recent times, it has become challenging to obtain necessary medications because of recurring shortages. One possible reason could be that physicians are prescribing these drugs in ways not specifically intended (off-label), particularly to individuals who do not fully match the medical requirements for receiving a prescription.
Individuals without issues like obesity or type-2 diabetes should avoid using medications like Ozempic, which are primarily intended for weight loss.
Concerns have been raised by some experts that the long-term consequences of these medications might not be fully understood yet, despite the significant advantages they offer to individuals battling diabetes or those striving to improve their health through weight loss.
Brooks confessed that while on Ozempic, she experienced a slight decrease in her exercise drive and energy levels.
Ultimately, Brooks ‘picked dancing’ over continuing to use the weight-loss medication.
‘I put the shot away,’ she admitted.
Even though it appeared that Brooks and partner Gleb were dedicated to Dancing with the Stars, they managed to reach only the ninth position and were eliminated during the ninth week of the competition.
As a lifestyle advisor, I’d put it this way: While we were busy capturing our on-screen moments, there were whispers among our fans suggesting that our relationship was more for the cameras than real life. They labeled it as a ‘showmance,’ but only time will tell if there’s truth behind those rumors.
After finishing their stint on the show, they parted ways, but during the Thanksgiving break, it seemed they reconnected. Since then, they’ve been maintaining that they remain a couple.
Last week, the woman standing at 5 feet 8 inches tall humorously hinted in a TikTok video that she might be using Ozempic for the first time.
They played a game where she joined her sisters, taking turns to slowly run while one of them trailed behind, revealing a secret or suspicion about the runner to them.
When it was Brooks’ turn, one of her sisters shared: A suspect mysteriously shed 20 pounds. She claims it’s due to exercise, yet she’s been using Ozempic.
Brooks swiftly spun around, jabbing a finger towards the camera while exclaiming “Hey! Wait!” and bursting into laughter.
When she was asked about the viral video, she called her sisters ‘little brats.’
In an interview with Us Weekly, I shared, “Were you having a good time?” is something I might say to them, for they seem to know everything! They’re always on the move around our home, and if there’s anything they sense, they won’t hesitate to spill the beans about my secrets. If you need something, just ask them – they’ll gladly fill you in!
Despite no longer using a weight-loss drug, Brooks surprisingly shed a considerable amount of weight during DWTS, given her small stature when practices began.
As I neared my goal, I shed quite a bit of weight, around 10 to 15 pounds, which I gladly revealed,” I confessed, my enthusiasm evident.
She expressed, “I had a strong fondness for it, yet at times I would think, ‘I wasn’t perfectly sculpted.’ However, what she discovered was, ‘It’s an unexpected thing, but due to the extensive daily dancing, I became incredibly toned. It’s almost like my body was transforming without me consciously realizing it. In fact, when I finally took a moment to check myself out in the mirror, I realized, ‘Wow, this is more than just exercise, this is beneficial in ways I hadn’t anticipated.’ So, I grew to appreciate that part of it even more.
However, as her Dancing with the Stars experience concluded, Brooks started pondering if she could maintain her well-maintained figure without the intense rehearsals.
‘My first thought was “Oh s***. What is going to happen to my body?”‘ she admitted.
She fretted over possibly putting on extra pounds, and even if she managed to maintain her current weight, she harbored concerns that her newly developed muscles and physique might vanish.
Brooks admitted she had gained some weight back, but she said the small amount was ‘fine.’
