Afton McKeith, Brooklyn Beckham’s former partner, has supported his recent public criticism of his parents, saying he was honest about his feelings.
The 25-year-old actress, who once mentioned dating Brooklyn Beckham when they were younger, shared that Brooklyn, now 26, found it difficult growing up in the public eye because his childhood was so connected to his famous family.
She publicly supported him in the family dispute, telling The Sun that the conflict had been building for a long time and wasn’t a recent development.
She added: ‘Brooklyn was telling the truth in his post. It was hard for him growing up.
Every situation has multiple perspectives, and it was undoubtedly difficult for him to grow up with so much public attention.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve often seen the pressures faced by those in the public eye, and it’s heartbreaking. Gillian McKeith’s daughter shared with me that Brooklyn really struggled with anxiety, constantly feeling like everyone was anticipating his mistakes. It’s a tough weight for anyone to carry, especially when you’re growing up under such intense scrutiny.
Defending him, Afton suggested his parents could have done more to shield him and that they should have thought about how the family’s public image might affect him.
Even so, she acknowledged that Brooklyn often attracted attention, explaining he disliked having his photo taken and usually needed security protection.
She said he wasn’t the type to get angry, but often seemed very worried and stressed.
Afton mentioned that Brooklyn often had a hard time with his parents’ frequent travel. Even though he had caregivers and brothers and sisters nearby, he often felt lonely and alone.
After Brooklyn posted his strongly worded statement, people began speculating that his wife, Nicola Peltz, age 31, actually wrote it for him.
Despite the rumors, Afton stated that Brooklyn actually wrote it himself, adding that Brooklyn is a smart person who ‘has had enough’ of the situation.
Daily Mail has contacted Brooklyn and Afton’s representatives for comment.
Afton spoke publicly after chef Brooklyn released a strong six-page letter detailing his family issues and stating he doesn’t want to repair his relationship with them, even with his father, David.
Although he used to openly admit being very close to his mother, Brooklyn’s recent harsh words were directed at Victoria, and sources say she was deeply upset and devastated by them.
Brooklyn claimed his mother interrupted his first dance at his wedding and danced suggestively with him in front of the guests. He also accused his parents of attempting to sabotage his relationship.
A video of Brooklyn Beckham’s wife, Nicola, and his mother, Victoria, from Paris Fashion Week in October 2022 is now circulating on TikTok, five days after a previous statement was released.
The photo captures Nicola chatting with a blonde woman at an event, with Brooklyn’s little sister, Harper, standing close by.
Nicola turned her back to Brooklyn and Victoria to talk, and Victoria seemed uncomfortable and unsure how to join in.
A TikTok user shared a video claiming it was leaked footage from 2022 showing the Beckhams, and suggesting that Victoria Beckham isn’t the source of any issues.
Viewers shared differing opinions in the comments, with some pointing out that basic courtesy, like acknowledging someone and explaining you’re in conversation, is often expected – even a simple ‘hello’ and ‘excuse me’ would suffice.
‘Having a conversation that didn’t include queen Victoria? How dare she?’,
‘I never heard anything good about Nicola.’
However, many people came to Nicola’s defense, pointing out that she was simply talking to someone and wasn’t being impolite.
‘If she’s talking to someone what’s the problem.’,
‘What are you taking about… she’s having a conversation.’,
‘she was chatting to someone . not rude at all.’
Brooklyn and Nicola looked incredibly happy as they were seen together for the first time since making their recent announcement.
Even with all the recent family drama and public attention, the couple seemed relaxed and happy on Thursday, enjoying a walk with their dog in Malibu while holding each other.
I was really struck by seeing Brooklyn and his wife out and about – it was their first public appearance since they addressed the family situation and made it clear where their loyalties lie. It felt like a significant moment for them, showing a united front after speaking so openly.
Despite his harsh words, Brooklyn seemed happy and at ease while walking on the beach with Nicola and their adopted dog, Lamb.
